Not Excellent Drivers

It’s time for The Nest to use its secret recipe to dredge up another awful image from Google that will guide today’s post.  But before we get into this week’s edition of Random Image Inspiration, I’d like to talk about the weird issues some of my posts have been having lately…

Last Wednesday’s RII was apparently inaccessible for people to click on until the next morning despite the fact that I had no issues bringing it up and it did get a couple token views that day.  Well, the same thing happened to my Share Your World post yesterday… with only a couple views, no likes, and no comments until at least 12 hours after it was posted.  I’ve received word that once again the link to the post in both notifications and on my blog itself didn’t work for some reason.  It may happen to this post as well, who knows?  But if you attempted to view yesterday’s post and were unable to do so, please let me know either in the comments or via email what happened on your end in as much detail as possible.  In case I need to refer this issue to one of WordPress’ helper monkeys Happiness Engineers, I’d like to be armed with as much information as I can get so they can maybe, kinda, sorta address the problem because I really hate posting to nobody in particular…

Biskit and his cheerful, exuberant expression would make a great Happiness Engineer.

OK, so with that out of the way……. the random numbers that will work the usual RII magic!

9, 67, 34, 85

The 9th post in my Reader was this one by River Girl.

The 67th word in that post is “really”

The 34th word in that post is “who”

Entering “really who” into Google Images turned up this as the 85th result…

It’s some big shot with Uber, who over the course of this decade has cornered the market on Dial A Stranger rides.  So I’ll pay tribute to this random image by giving you an off-the-top-of-my-head Top 10 list…

I’ll have more Random Image Wednesday fun next week, if the server hosting my blog doesn’t melt down…

  1. we miss the mama in that top ten… she deserved it… maybe #11 for her?

This lot could star in a remake of Wacky Races. How cool would that be?

    • I had to look that up, sadly, and now I know where those characters on the fridge magnets at my Grandma’s house came from! I always thought they looked like they were ripped off from the Scooby Doo cartoons, and now I know why since they were both Hanna Barbera productions…

Here in ‘Murrica, we’d love to see all these guys in a good old fashioned demolition derby. Yeehaw!

  3. I’m a Lyft person myself. 🚙

  4. This has happened to me too. But you are still showing up all tidy and clean in their database, so whatever else may be wrong, you haven’t been — as I was — disappeared. There’s some kind of hinky think with their email. Sometimes, I don’t GET email for a day or two then I get a ton of it all at once. I think their servers are overwhelmed, but that’s just me.

    • From what I’ve gathered from at least three other people now, it’s not an issue of bad notifications or me disappearing. For whatever reason, those two particular posts simply posted onto a page that nobody was allowed to access to. They could read the post as it appeared on my blog’s homepage, but the post’s page itself was broken somehow which was why I was getting no stats for it, no likes and no comments. I myself could click on the non-functioning posts, but nobody else. And in both cases… the next day everything was fine and dandy again. If it happens again, I’m probably going to have to contact them… and hopefully they would look at it while the post is still not working.

  5. EEEEK……I’ve never had to Uber or Lyft or depend on someone else to get me somewhere – except for a taxi or two and THOSE rides were unforgettable just as riding with any of your Top Ten would have been. Taxi drivers in New York, Rome, and Paris drive much like Vince and Larry and SHOULD be wearing the same headgear (along with their passengers!). As for posts coming late or disappearing into the ether – I sometimes get mail a day late from people and I blame servers – they get clogged – just like my arteries do after a chocolate fix.

    • I’ve never Ubered or Lyfted either, and my last taxi ride was in New York 18 years ago. In fact, when my car broke down at work last year and there was nobody who could pick me up, I honestly thought I was stranded until I noticed a co-worker still lingering around who gave me a ride home. The idea of calling a cab didn’t even cross my mind…

Tuesday and Wednesday I had problems with my browser not working. This morning I found out Firefox’s new version has some kind of conflict with my Avast anti virus. So I am using the Microsoft edge browser until they sort it out. Don’t like the edge though. 😦

    • I’ve been using Firefox since about 2006 since IE seemed more prone to picking up viruses, and have never gone back. I had to fight off my new computer from trying to force me to use Edge. I do like my Firefox, though I wish they’d return the bookmarks menu to a single menu rather than triggering three menus to get to them…

      • Arlene says:

I hope they figure out what the deal is and fix it cause I want my firefox

      • Good luck with that. When two companies’ software clashes, they usually like to point the finger at the other one rather than take the high road to make their own product compatible. I went through this last year when a critical Windows 10 update kept rendering my Photoshop useless. Microsoft said Adobe needed to change to accommodate them, and Adobe laughed and said it wasn’t they’re fault. I only got my Photoshop back after my computer finally quit trying to re-install the update I kept uninstalling…

      • Arlene says:

Google is mixed up in it too. They want everyone to run with Chrome.

  7. Ally Bean says:

Vince and Larry have names? I didn’t know that. Also, your post popped up here today no problem. We’ll see if the system takes my comment in a moment, won’t we?

    • Yes, the dummies had names! I think they may have even referred to each other by those names in the commercials… though you can be excused for not remembering. After all, the important message to remember was to buckle your safety belt…

  8. Loved this! Made my day.

    I have a sad life…. 😉

  9. Quirky Girl says:

I think I’d choose Stevie Wonder over a drunken Snuggle Bear. On second thought, Jason Voohries is looking like an increasingly promising prospect…

  10. Lynda says:

I don’t do taxis/Ubers ever. Well, OK, my mom called a taxi take me to school one day in kindergarten because she had the flu and was too ill. If I had to choose, then I will say that Vince and Larry look amicable.

  11. Biskit! That cat is driving away all of the bad shit.

  12. Trisha says:

Of these choices, Captain Joe Hazelwood actually seems the most terrifying to me. I do not like being on boats! Of course, I’ve never had to escape a serial killer so perhaps that would be worse.

    • I realized I could have used the captain of that cruise ship that sank in the Mediterrainian with him being the first one to run for the lifeboats… but I think more people know Hazelwood. I hated when the casino boats here used to be forced to cruise.. because unless you wanted to swim, you couldn’t just leave when you wanted to!
