Winter Fluff

I could still use a nice, cozy mink or a stole…

A fluffy winter snow squirrel for this week’s Saturday Squirrel… because there isn’t much cuter than fluffy winter snow squirrels.

Brrrrrr!!!

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. Having to go grocery shopping in a snowy day is a drag…..hopefully some kind soul has put sunflower seeds in their bird bath I hope! 🙂

    • I filled it up Thursday, and there’s one nibbling in the bath right now, so I guess it’s still good to go. It looks like we’re going to be in a snow/melt/snow/melt/snow/melt etc. pattern for most of the week… I’m sure they’re more than used to the white stuff by now!

  2. Poor little guy. Ours are shivering!

    • I’ll bet the squirrels (and other outside animals) hate it even more than we do when the temperatures swing wildly like they did this past week where it was in the 60’s on Thursday and then snowing by noon on Friday. It’s a wonder they don’t all have common colds…

Cute photo. I almost feel sorry for him out there in the snow… then I remember he’s wearing fur. He’ll be fine, I tell myself.

    • An all natural fur coat is a good start… but I’ll bet a warm blankie, some hot cocoa and getting to sit next to the fire would make him feel much more fine. If only someone had the heart to let him inside…

Aw, he looks pretty chilly. Good job he has fur.

Awww, what a cutie! We finally got snow and I think the squirrels tried to hide out in their nests until it was gone because there sure weren’t many around for the first few days. I haven’t seen my new short-tailed squirrel since the snow arrived, two weeks ago tomorrow.

    • A lot of those squirrels had probably never seen snow before! What is this crap? I’m not going out in that! Hopefully your new squirrel friend will resurface… or maybe he got a tail extension?

      • Trisha says:

I think you’re right about most of these squirrels never seeing snow before! I saw very few until most of the snow was gone. I thought I saw Shorty2 running up the pagoda the other day but haven’t seen that short tail since. I hope he did get a tail extension! He was the friendliest, bravest one around since Chip died in the squirrel apoxalypse.

  6. Saw my first blooming crocuses yesterday and now as I look outside it’s a snow globe vista staring back at me. Mother Nature sure is confused! Have a swell weekend.

    • I had noticed last week while out walking that very small buds were starting to poke out of the tree branches, which was odd since it hasn’t exactly been warm this winter. The green fronds from my tulips and daffiodils are just starting to poke out of the ground as well. Ten years, and I guess my neglect still hasn’t managed to kill them off yet!

It’s a cold, gray one here, too but the darned bulbs are sprouting anyway. My squirrels seem fairly well fed this winter with all the acorns I’ve left out.

  8. This squirrel is just precious.
