2019 continues to be a really bad year for taking new squirrel photos between the shitty weather and even shittier motivation I’ve had to get out with my camera. Luckily for The Nest’s longest running weekly blog feature, I have an almost endless stash of squirrel photos going all the way back to 2012… so many, in fact, that there’s still a butt-ton of great pics that I can’t believe I never had the opportunity to use here before.
Here’s a picture I took about five years ago this week of one very cunning looking squirrel holding an acorn. He reminds me a lot of my 2012 Squirrel O’Lantern carving…
This week’s Saturday squirrel may have that devilish look in his eye… but like the rest of his impish brethren, he still looks so cute as he plots to take over the world one acorn at a time…
Have a great weekend everyone!
He’s entirely too cute to plot my demise. At least I hope so…
The charm will go a long way towards his world domination scheme…
Oh I do like this guy – he looks healthy and absolutely NOT like he’s plotting to take over the world – just figuring out how best to get that danged hard shell off that juicy acorn!
Pam
I guess he has to worry about figuring out how to dominate that acorn before he can plan on taking over a nut as large as the world…
This photo is delightful as is your caption with it. I’m glad you mentioned your difficulties with getting photos of your squirrel friends this year. I cannot get a single decent one of the ones who live in the forest behind our house. Usually they want me to snap a pic of them, but lately they’ve gotten shy. Little buggers, don’t they know I have a blog that benefits from adding a snap of them to it?
Squirrels aren’t easy to get good pictures of. It requires a lot of patience and effort and luck. You also need squirrels who have a desire to become internet famous as they are much more willing to pose for you…
There is a resemblance between that squirrel and your squirrel-o-lantern squirrel! And it does look like it’s plotting some sort of mischief. It’s weird how squirrels can occasionally look sinister when they usually look so innocent. I’ve got one of those innocent-looking ones outside my slider now!
Those ears just sometime bear a resemblance to devils horns, and get in the way of the halo over their heads, of course.
I think he’s divining the future. Humans use crystal balls, squirrels have magic nuts.
I have magic nuts! That seems like a line a guy would use in a really bad dating site profile…
I also have about 100 more squirrel shots, each cuter than the last. Need a few spares?
I’ve got stashes and stashes I don’t even remember taking… like this one. I’m pretty sure I’ll be good for a while… though you never know when I might reblog one of your squirrel posts.
Trust? Ha, like that’ll happen.
Oh come on, I have a face like Joe Isuzu…
Evil or not, that is one cute squirrel.
