My Mom has been settling in at her new place for the past month, and it didn’t take her long (thanks to me) to notice the squirrel activity going on in her yard. She sent me this picture she took with her phone of what she described as a very fat squirrel that was usually outside of the living room window. You have to really look to see the critter right above the post in the middle of the fence since the camera was zoomed out. And as for why she apparently held the phone cockeyed while she took the picture…… well, I guess you see where my shitty photography skills come from.
Since my Mom emailed this picture to me about five times, I figured I would share it as this week’s Saturday Squirrel. Don’t strain your eyes too much looking at him…
Have a great weekend everyone!
Well he or she doesn’t really look fat but then it’s tough to tell……! Any place a squirrel or ten lives is a great new home though right? He might be wondering when the bird feeder or bird bath will be installed so he can get his snacks.

When I brought my camera over there a couple weeks ago, I got one picture of a squirrel (Which I completely forgot about until just now) and several pictures of birds. The birds are very active there… I need to post those pictures sometime too.
I had to zoom in… but yes. He’s there.
😉
Almost as easy to find as Waldo…
Yes, there he is, what a tail!
That tail hasn’t thinned out much for the summer…
It’s a good picture, I saw his fat tail right away.
Without the tail, I think he’d be impossible to find…
Nice squirrel! Thank your mom for the photo! 🙂
I will. And I’ll ask her not to stand on her head when she takes the next picture…
🙂 🙂
Maybe your mum lives on a steep hill.
The topography of her yard is actually extremely random, haphazard and dangerous. There are some places in the front where a photo like this would be natural…
He’s almost the same color as the fence. Great camouflage!
Take out the tail and he’s invisible. Though I think he’d like to keep it…
It does look like a rather plump squirrel! I haven’t seen a super chubby one here in awhile but today there was one with a giant ear notch and giant nads.
It’s that time of the year! Most of my pictures I’ve taken of squirrels with big nads have been in May and June…
Bill, I was having this discussion with River over at River’s World because she has some very flexible, dare I say acrobatic, squirrels on her post today and she has red and/or gray squirrels in Maine,; but I’m in Texas and we have nothing but brown squirrels. I don’t think they’re nearly as entertaining either! What part of the country are you from and what type of squirrels are you distracted by! M.L. James aka Mona
St. Louis area, and all of our squirrels here are grey. At least the ones I’ve seen… and since I go out of my way to take pictures of them, I’m sure I’d notice any variety. The brown squirrels are usually bigger than the greys, and probably not as lithe and acrobatic… thus, not quite as entertaining.
Nice camo work Mr. Squirrel. Trust me, when you move, it takes a while to un-cockeye. 😉Hope your mum is well on her way to settling in her new crib.
Go, Mom! Go!
