Back In Action

You dropped by just to see me? Aw, you shouldn’t have…

After a long stretch of icky weather since the start of Spring had kept me from being able to do one of my park walks looking for squirrels, I’m happy to report that I was able to take my camera for a visit on Thursday morning.  No hip waders necessary, and not so uncomfortably hot that the squirrels were all hiding away in the AC of their nests.  Though the squirrel activity wasn’t as robust as I normally see it, I got quite a few great captures in just over an hour that should help stock the next couple months worth of these Saturday Squirrel features… and as always, was treated to a few squirrel sights that I’ve never gotten pictures of before.  Sciurophiles rejoice!

Among those treasures I ran across the other day was this cute little guy, who stood still long enough for me to get quite a few shots of.  I don’t know if he’s happy to see me, or he wonders what in the hell I’m doing stopping to look at him… but I had a giddy smile on my face the whole time I took pictures of him because he just looked so adorable with his short summer fur and bemused expression.  Man, I really missed doing this!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Oh, I think Mitzi wants to wish me a happy birthday. So thoughtful, that girl…

Our backyard has been almost bereft of squirrels this summer. Chipmunks on the other hand are running amok. They’re everywhere!

glad you are back on the trail again and happy birthday )

  4. Happy Birthday Monsieur Squirrel of the Evil persuasion! You did indeed capture a cutie squirrel at the park – I bet he’s waiting for “the guy with the camera” to toss a peanut or three at him. Probably figures he deserves payment for providing all the photo ops……….

    • There are no signs saying you can’t feed the squirrels at the park, though with my luck I’d get a ticket and then the squirrels would have something to take a picture of to put on THEIR blogs…

Definitely a cutie! Glad you got to go out for a little while.

Happy birthday! 🎂 I’m glad the squirrels cooperated with your photo session. That squirrel has such an adorable expression on its cute little face!

    • Thanks! I inadvertently chased it to four different trees, and I think he just finally said “fuck it!” and stopped for a while so I could take his picture and leave him alone!

  10. Look at that face!!!! What a cute squirrel. But wait, they’re all cute. Wishing you a happy birthday and a year of wonderful and cute everything! xoxo

  11. Cute little guy. Nice picture. Happy birthday, Bill.

  12. A real cutie! Nice coloration, too. Our weather has gone from all rain to some rain and really freaking HOT. Between the family stomach virus and the 95 degree heat out there, this has been a swell year for weather. But your squirrel is just adorable!

    • Same here… and other than the showers yesterday from what’s left of the hurricane, we’d be almost completely dry this month… which we need. If you like this squirrel’s coloration, I have a dandy for next Saturday…

He’s been sent out to check on the weather. He’s about to yell “sun’s out, chaps!”.

Happy birthday, my blog brother. We’re now the same age for a little over a month, I’ll be hitting the big 45 next month.
    Oh joy.
