It’s time for The Nest to take another giant leap of faith into sharing our world with Melanie’s SYW questions for this week. I actually had time to do this post on my normal Tuesday, but then saw that all the questions required actual thinking this week, and that tends to set off the smoke alarm around here even more than Fuzzywig’s “bathroom breaks” do. And naturally, I spent exactly zero of the last 48 hours doing any actual thinking… so we’re winging through this like one of those college papers I put off until the last minute and always got B-pluses on! Let the BS roll…
Why do we seem to respect the dead more than the living?
As a society, this might be true… but I don’t really have any more respect for the dead than I do the living. I’m one of those people who hates that “moratorium” we’re supposed to observe when it comes to referring to the recently deceased in anything short of mournful and outright respectful terms. Too soon? There is no such thing as too soon…
Why is beauty associated with morality? Or not? (a few weeks back I asked a similar question, but the key word was MORTALITY, not MORALITY).
MITZI: Mitzi’s, like, totally bootiful! And Mitzi is a polygon of morality! Mitzi always, like, says “Pweeeeeeze” when asking for smoochies… takes off her wet panties before totally entering someone’s house… and Mitzi even extends her pinkie when giving hoofjobs!
Nononono Mitzi! You’re confusing morality with etiquette! In fact, I think you’ve just proved that beauty and morality don’t necessarily go together!
MITZI: You mean go together like a weewee and a vajayjay?
Shut up, Mitzi…
Have gadgets and apps taken away emotions?
Is there a perfect life? What’s your version of a perfect life if you care to share?
Everyone should have their own version of a perfect life that would include just the right amounts of things they love and value. I’m not sure we’d all be happy with the perfect life, though… I mean, it’s the imperfect things in life that give it its flavor and charm. I’ll share one thing… as an anti-summer person, my perfect life sure as hell wouldn’t look anything like this…
If you’d like, please share something uplifting or for which you are grateful.
Both of my cats were sitting next to me as I was trying to think of something for this. Since I haven’t taken any pictures of them in a long time, I grabbed the camera… which immediately made Biskit bolt. So you won’t get to see him, but here’s the old man Ody who turns 10 in a week and a half…
Well done “Share” this week. Mitzi always gets the wrong end of the stick (oops….I think I just said something she would misunderstand!). I too am relatively happy with my imperfect life – the thing is, life is ups and downs and somehow that seems to (for the most part) level out into something acceptable. I can see that more clearly now that I’m “of a certain age” – I would have laughed at that statement when I was younger…………
Pam
With Mitzi, there never is no wrong end of the stick… just as long as she gets it. Get it?
The emoticon of the shrug is my favorite. It sums up so many things. [Is that called an emoticon, btw?]
I think it would be called an emoticon since it’s made up with (supposedly) keyboard symbols. I was trying to find an actual shrug emoji to put there, but there doesn’t seem to be one… which I guess is fitting. Apathy begets apathy…
🤷♀️ This is the woman shrugging emoji on my computer. I like her.
I saw some of those come up in the results, but I’ve always thought of emojis as yellow smiley faced guys. Except for the poop, because…. well, nobody wants that on their face.
Emojis have evolved past only yellow smiley face ones. Now they’re objects and people and nature. It’s a great time to be alive, isn’t it? 😉
I’ll have to use that shrug emoji again….
it’s important to say pweeeze… even if you ask someone to go to the place a little deeper… to be polite is always the best.
LOL! Maybe those people actually would go to hell if you asked them nicely enough…
I’m with you on the anti-summer personality, it’s not something I’d love to spend the rest of my life doing. Sitting in the sand in the hot, hot cancer causing, skin aging sun, no thank you! Love that picture of Ody, those whiskers! lol
I’m not a sun person and I’ll even burn in the shade. I’ve got prescription Vitamin D to make up for my vampire ways anyway. Ody’s whiskers stand out so well! I like his tux pattern better than any other black and white cat I’ve seen…
He sure is a handsome cat, tux and all!
Happy early birthday wishes to the Ody. Tuxedo kitties always make me smile, even if I’m allergic as hell to cat fur. 😸
He’s pretty much shed an entire second cat in the past two months. You’d hate it in here as much as all those cheap-o vacuum cleaners I run through…
Ody is GORGEOUS!!! Here’s to another decade (at least) in his company! And thanks for Sharing Your World. I couldn’t tell, because I’m sorta blind, but is that a $100 bill in Mitzi’s unicorn string? She must give good pole….. I bet Snuggle thinks so anyway, but the gored possum might not have an opinion on that..
It’s actually a MILLION dollar bill! Something I found at work one night and just had to bring home for its gag prop value. It looks like a pretty authentic $1,000,000 bill on the front, but the back is a church advertisement…. one of those things that the church people like to litter stores with. You can get a better look at it here:

Nearly 10 is far too old to be bolting. Leave that to the younger, more excitable cats, Ody.
Yep, Biskit is a whole six months younger and sprier. He is thinner than a noodle of spaghetti whereas Ody looks like a pre-explosion Hindenberg…
Ten’s not old for a kitty cat. One of ours lived to age 24 and died trying to kill a raccoon great way to go when you’re 125 years old.
I think they’re pretty much considered seniors by the time they reach 10, though I’ve known of a few cats who’ve made it to 20 and beyond. It does seem a bit unusual to me still, because our pets when I was a kid never lasted even close to 10 years…. but that’s another story.
That nauseating beach picture wouldn’t fit into my perfect life either. I’ve never seen the fun in roasting oneself over hot sand in the way-too-f’ing-bright sun.
Ody is looking good!
I think Ody would agree with us because even he doesn’t like laying in the sun like most cats do. Biskit’s a beach bum, though…
Yay, Ody! He’s cute.
