Plank’s Constant

This is the life.

A body in motion doesn’t always remain in motion.  Sometimes it needs to rest… and even the most hyperactive squirrel occasionally has to turn off the rocket thrusters and just chill out.  Check out this super relaxed guy I ran into at the park a couple weeks ago!  On a warm (but not hot) summer morning, what could possibly be better than relaxing on the porch?  This guy’s deck is actually one of those memorial bricks that dedicates the tree to someone who I’d assume is dead… but the squirrel cares nothing about respect for past humans.  He just needs a place to lay down and recharge the batteries for a while.

Or perhaps he was hoping for a massage…

I wonder how much I have to tip for the “happy ending” here?

It’s Saturday Squirrel and chill today!

Have a great and relaxing weekend everyone!

  1. Keeping his undercarriage cool on that concrete……and he’s being very cooperative while the guy with the camera snaps him taking a break. Good capture!

Ha! Great shot. Our squirrels often lie down while feeding. Lazy little buggers!

  3. Photofinland says:

The size is just suitable for squirrels to rest, it is cool also.

  4. Ally Bean says:

Love it. Our squirrels are never that relaxed.

  5. I think he was probably cooling down after a couple of minutes of the rocket thrusters being on super-sonic.

Soooo cute! Our dogs used to do that on the tile floors to cool off the tummies after a long hot walk. Guess Mr. Squirrel was doing the same. 🙂

  7. We encountered a scuirian little fella this morning on our morning constitution. I thought the Ninja would have a cow trying to get him. He quickly moved from chill to “holy *$%#…I gotta get away from that killer” mode, even climbing a brick house and hanging from the fireplace chimney barking obscenities to her. She was definitely not at all amused by the finger salute in the form of a bark. 🤯Happy Saturday.

He might be chillin’ but with the way his paws are clutching the edge he looks like he’s ready to bolt at a moment’s notice…

  9. Trisha says:

So cute! It’s so weird the way they drop down on their tummies like that. I still haven’t figured out why they do that.

  10. They used to hang out on my porch like that. Very chilled. Happy little furries.

  11. The stone is cool on a warm day. Mine used to lie in the shade in the cool grass on their bellies with their legs splayed. It was so cute.
