The Nest’s quest to complete our virtual squirrel calendar continues on into the windy and tumultuous month of March! Each week for the next few months, I’m going to submit a slate of squirrel pics I took during each month of the year, and I want you, my loyal squirrel loving readers, to pick which one you think should represent that month on the calendar.
But before we get into third month from the sun, let’s take a look at our results from last week. Voter turnout was a bit lower from the January poll, but the race sure was a heck of a lot tighter! If this were the Presidential election, we’d be turning it over to the House of Representatives. But it isn’t, a plurality is all that’s needed to win this prize…
Way to go Foxy for coming out on top and being our official February calendar squirrel!
And now….. March! A much better month for squirrel pics apparently, as I was able to fill out the slate simply from my Top 200 photo countdown I did last year. You gotta love equinox squirrels, they’re quite active during the change of seasons. Let’s look at our March cuties you’ll be voting on this week, in chronological order…
#1. The Wild Thang (March 9, 2014)
#2. Flying Squirrel (March 21, 2014)
#3. I Am A Rock (March 21, 2014)
#4. Play Nice (March 6, 2015)
#5. Blooming Squirrel (March 9, 2017)
#6. Come On In! (March 9, 2017)
#7. A Squirrel Walks Into A Bar (March 15, 2018)
Well, there’s a lovely collection of sciurines for your perusal! Which one do you think should get to sit front and center over St. Patrick’s Day? Vote for the March calendar squirrel below!
Voting ends next Wednesday night the 11th. Make sure you get in on this March madness…
That smile on #6 was too tough to resist! March was a very good squirrel month though – these are all super.
Pam
There is something about that change in seasons that brings out the best in squirrels. Maybe the fact that it’s no longer cold enough to be freezing their nuts off!
Well I daresay a lot of guys would agree!!!
While I liked blooming squirrel, I had to go with come on in. It just had that essential squirrelyness.
😉
That smile is both inviting and seems to be hiding some ulterior motive. Very squirrely indeed!
we think # one is the # 1 LOL
What is a squirrel calendar without a nice nature picture…
I did like the smiling squirrel inviting us to come on in, but I went with Blooming Squirrel. He looks happy the blossoms are arriving, and soon green leaves and it will be easier to hide from your camera! It’s a game for you – find the squirrel in summer. haha! 🙂
Ha! I have to play that game every summer. In fact, I played it this morning with a few squirrels at the park. And it was dangerous looking up because they were dropping nuts out of the trees like crazy!
I went with “Come On In!” because so cute. I mean, really… a squirrel with a smile has to be in your calendar.
Since my best smiling squirrel lost out in the January contest, there does need to be one to make up for it. That goofy grin does make the picture…
Blooming squirrel it is! I love that picture, although #1 looks like only one of those squirrels is enjoying that *ahem* outting….lol
Well, you know, she probably has a headache. Or another boyfriend. But a squirrel has to live life by the nuts…
Every one I saw I decided that’s the one! Except the first one, that’s too rude to put on a calendar.
There’s nothing rude about a couple of nice squirrels enjoying the great outdoors.
Love that blue sky with blossoms shot. We continue to hope the calendar stays {relatively} G-rated.
If it did, then the squirrel calendar would be the first thing I ever did that was G rated…
No surprise there. 🤣
Number 5 looks very tradional March photo + a cute squirrel, so you vote for me once again. Thank you.
Your vote is in!
This was hard! I wanted to pick each one for different reasons. I ended up picking Come On In because of that smile. I’ve never seen a squirrel smile like that!
I must have made that squirrel real happy by taking its picture. Or maybe it got a Prozac laced acorn. Either way, that is a heck of a goofy grin on his face! However, if you want to see a real ham, you’ll LOVE tomorrow’s Saturday Squirrel!
I vote for Come on In!
