The Nest’s virtual squirrel calendar we’re assembling is in the springtime of its life…. literally. April is up next, and like with every other month of this feature, YOU, my readers, will get to choose which squirrels get the primo spot above all of your doctor’s appointments and in-laws birthdays!
Speaking of, let’s see which squirrel pic you chose in our March poll last week! It was yet another close vote, but we had a winner squeak out once again in the end!
March looks to be a rather inviting month, as the charming smile of the “Come On In!” squirrel won the day… and the month! Congrats on having such wonderful curb appeal, dude!
Now, let us look at the squirrels of April! I found quite a few interesting pics I took during this month over the past few years that should make for an excellent calendar model. Judge this field of seven (listed in chronological order), and decide with of these April fools you like the best!
#1. Sleeping Squirrel (April 22, 2013)
#2. Evil Squirrel (April 4, 2014)
#3. Violet Squirrel (April 24, 2014)
#4. Squirrel With Leaf (April 1, 2016)
#5. Pink Curtains (April 22, 2016)
#6. Screaming Squirrel (April 22, 2016)
#7. Podium Squirrel (April 22, 2016)
So, there you have it! My best squirrels posing among the blooms and weeds of Spring! Which of these squirrels should make it on The Nest’s squirrel calendar for the month of April?
Get your vote in before next Wednesday night the 18th! Otherwise, the April showers will turn into May flowers…
The April squirrel selections are all great but that Springish little beauty among the violets got to me!
Pam
It’s a very cute picture! I’m not sure what those purple blooms actually are, but they must be an April phenomenon since I saw them in a bunch of the April pics I reviewed!
#6 that guy screams april foools! right?
He screams AT April fools! And probably drops nuts on their heads…
Damn. This was hard, I really loved 4 of them, but had to go with violet squirrel.
I underestimated the appeal of violet squirrel. Amazingly, he was a last minute addition to the pool…
Squirrel with leaf, for the win. Too cute not to be in the calendar, imo.
It is a great picture. Thank you for giving it some love…
I went with Podium Squirrel, it looks so regal and elegant. 🐿🐿👑👑
I love it when they stand on one of those brick memorials at the park! Usually, I either don’t get the photo in time or it blurs. That was a very fortunate exception!
Difficult to choose just one! Love the sleeping squirrel, but went with Violet as it looks more like a springtime photo. 🙂
As I stated above, those purple flowers appear in a bunch of my April photos, so it is VERY seasonally appropriate!
It’s always fascinating how your squirrels are always cute and adorable. Mine always seem to flash gang signs and look like characters from a Stephen King novel.
There may be a little observational bias going on here. I think the same thing when I see birds lurking about…
Except no bird has chewed through the cable line. Twice 😬
You sure you don’t have any pterodactyls in your neighborhood?
Bwahaha. I think those guys have bottle brush tails 🐿
I had to pick Violet Squirrel because it’s such a chubby, fluffy squirrel and those are the ones that melt my heart the most. Look at that big, fluffy tail! And that chubby tummy – so cute!
I nominate Evil Squirrel for the cover!
Evil Squirrel would certainly be a fitting representative for my internet name. Violet Squirrel is very cute and fluffy… I am still surprised how much of a favorite he has been!
Violet Squirrel looks like one of the guys who hung out on my back deck. Fat, like he just at a whole feeder full of fattening black sunflower seeds. I like them healthy and plump.
A healthy and plump squirrel is a happy squirrel. The birds can always fly south for food, the squirrels are stuck to their neighborhoods…
Wow, looks like we have clear front-runner for April! And rightly so, Violet Squirrel is very April-y.
You never know, the Russians may come in before next Thursday and turn the election. But yeah, not a bad result for a picture I almost didn’t include…
I loved Violet Squirrel. I loved all of them. But still waiting for the mersquirrel.
I kept hoping to catch a squirrel swimming when we had the flood last month. Alas, I believe my critters are all landlubbers…
