The Nest is putting together a virtual squirrel calendar, and you get to decide which photos grace the space above each month! This week, we’ll be looking for the perfect squirrel to usher in the time when the days are long and the nights just as hot… June. But before we start sizing up some summer squirrels, let’s check out which squirrel won the right to represent the merry merry month of May….
The vote was a lot closer than it seemed it would be at first, since Cheese Squirrel literally claimed the first seven votes! The Very Happy Squirrel made a valiant comeback attempt, but fell just a bit short… so May of 2020 will be a very cheesy month when we flip over the calendar page!
So, what does June have in store for the squirrel calendar? Well, as you might expect, with the warmer weather comes a bit of a downturn in sciurine activity… so the field was a bit thin for pictures I took in the month of June. But I think we can find a winner from this group, as always, in chronological order…
#1. Camouflage Squirrel (June 13, 2014)
#2. Samurai Squirrel (June 19, 2014)
#3. Lobbing Nut Grenades (June 19, 2014)
#4. Photobomb (June 23, 2014)
#5. Hi Neighbor! (June 24, 2015)
#6. Luncheon on the Grass (June 25, 2015)
#7. Eating His Greens (June 2, 2017)
Well, there you go! Which of these squirrels would look best in the sixth spot of our calendar squirrel lineup?
You have until next Wednesday evening October 2nd to vote! Be a part of the process, or else you can’t cry about the results…
I like the photobomber in the background… he loks not very friendly… but that’s something all neighbors have in common, right?
He looks like he wants the squirrel to share some corn….. OR ELSE!
how cute!!
Year round cuteness!
Yes!
Always loved the “Hi Neighbor” photo……but that squirrel with the corn cob is really cute! I don’t recall seeing that one before. You really do have a great collection of squirrelmania!
Pam
It’s Saturday Squirrel appearance would have preceded you, but I did insert it somewhere in my photo countdown last year…. lost among the other 200 pictures! I wish I’d have had a chance to open the window before taking that picture, because that’s why it looks so faded out… but it’s probably the only time I’ve EVER seen a squirrel eat on its back!
Really liked hello neighbor but had to go with the samurai squirrel. I mean really, how often do you see one of those?
😉
Very few squirrels are skilled enough to become samurais. Most just end up cutting their nuts off…
I’m going to go with #2 Samurai Squirrel. That pic is fantastic. All the pics are good and the squirrels cute, but Samurai really stood out.
Samurai is the best out of a bunch of pictures that squirrel got me playing with that stick! He looks so fierce…
All of these are just adorable! But I’m torn between #5 Photo-bomb Squirrel and #5 Hi Neighbor…….
Okay I’ll go with Hi Neighbor, too cute!
Squirrel #5 is happily waving at you from over the fence for your support!
Difficult, too many great squillers. Number four!
Your vote has made this a pretty close contest so far!
While I adore Samurai Squirrel, Photobomb gets my vote. It’s more June-like to me. As if that makes any sense at all…
Every month has an aura about it. Like how September is all about hot and sticky weather…. oh wait, that’s just this year.
So hard to choose from all these cuties! It’s a tie between photo bomb, and samurai … okay I’ll go with photo bomb 🙂
This already looks like it’s going to be the most interesting poll so far with three clear favorites! Thank you for choosing your squirrel! Or bird, as it may be…
Far too many fun ones for June, but I went with “Hi Neighbor”! That little guy is just so CHEEKY! 😛 I really liked the first one you pictured, perhaps you can foist/hoist that for another months’ selection? And when is the calendar to be put on the market? ‘Cause I got a little money set aside for just this purpose.
I don’t think Cafepress allows for calendars with monthly photos, but if I can find someplace that would charge a reasonable price for this, I would absolutely offer it for sale! As it stands now, this is merely a fun little exercise in creating a virtual squirrel calendar…
Well dang. Keep us posted! I’d LOVE a squirrel of the month calendar. I guess I’ll have to make do with the Utah Canyonlands one I saw for a reduced price. *grumble*
I love the last wee fat one especially since he is pretending to diet with lettuce/leaves. Ours are having soooo much fun with pine cones right now.
I get a lot of pine cones in my yard that end up pretty far from the neighbor’s evergreen tree. I can’t imagine why…
Samurai is a very handsome squirrel. Clearly, as squirrel attractiveness goes, he’s a star.
And a natural beauty at that. He has no makeup artist or plastic surgeon…
Boy this was a tough vote. There are several worthy candidates. Even if they are squirrels. 😈
Cute, cuddly, fluffy, sweet, innocent, blood pressure lowering, photogenic squirrels!
That was a tricky choice but I finally plumped for Photobomb. All my three top choices were already tied on 4 votes each, so whichever way it turns out I reckon one of my faves will make the calendar this month!
This will be a fun vote to watch, and maybe the first one I have to hold a tiebreaker for. Of course, if all of the votes go to the top three, and they all tie, the tiebreaker will be an exercise in futility…
This was too hard. They were all so cute. Exceptionally cute. Cute as cute can be.
Just wait until you see the possum calendar I’m planning (OK, I’m not since I only had a few possum photos, but could you imagine that level of cuteness?)
This was the hardest one yet. They’re all so dang cute! After much agonizing, I went with Samurai Squirrel and it appears as though my vote has created a three way tie.
I can’t wait to see how this one ends up. Maybe it will have to be a split photo with all three of them in there! I imagined there might be a month where two pictures were both heavily voted for, but three favorites is kind of wild!
Hope I’m not too late–Samurai Squirrel is my fave!
Samurai Squirrel gets my enthusiastic vote. How adorably badass is he? 😛
He is very badass! And you might have just saved me having to hold a crazy 3 way tiebreker!
Woo hoo! Happy to help 😛
