I’m not sure what’s going on in this photo I took a couple years ago, but I came across it while looking for Calendar Squirrel nominees and realized I hadn’t shared it yet. It kind of looks like this squirrel’s got his nose stuck in that nut he’s holding, and is starting to freak out that he can’t extricate himself from the situation. That’s the best I can come up with anyway. If you have any alternate ideas of what’s happening in this strange Saturday Squirrel picture, clue me in with a comment!
Have a great weekend everyone!
HA! Looks like your guess is on target…….In which case he needs a good ENT to help him extricate his snooter from that nut ASAP!
Pam
Someone will need to bring in the jaws of life. Or maybe just a nutcracker…
My preciousssssss.
I think the squirrel is sniffing for freshness and has discovered just the opposite!
That could be! There is nothing quite as distasteful as a smelly nut…
haha too funny – but hope the little critter was okay. Maybe he was practicing for his Rudolph imitation, and one way or another he’ll have a red nose. 🙂
Good answer! I could even Photoshop in a red glow and repost it as Christmas time…
I’ve heard of ‘brown nose’ but this takes it to a whole ‘nother planet.
You wouldn’t think a squirrel would need to brown nose when that cute face can let them get away with anything…
He’s just giving it a sniff to check it hasn’t gone bad…
I’d guess by the look on his face that it’s not particularly fresh…
Caption: “OH MY GAW!!! They put PUMPKIN SPICE in my acorn!! ” Heheh.
I’d be making that face if anyone put pumpkin spice in anything of mine!
Giving it a good sniff … did a dog pee on it? 😉
Maybe another squirrel already marked that territory!
Actually, I think he looks scared, like he just thought he found THE nut and it’s really a bomb.
Leave it to some nutjob to make a nutbomb…
That “nut” looks like nut from a horse chestnut tree. The size is right and the nut has quite big and sharp thorns. If you look carefully that photo, you will see a thorn and maybe the other is in his nose.
I’ve got pictures of other squirrels with nuts like that with a thorn, so that may be what he has too. Other than acorns and walnuts, I don’t recognize any of the other nuts trees drop…
His nose looks oddly long. My guess is that you’ve come across another mutant squirrel and this is one crossed with an aardvark! What kind of radioactive, toxic stuff do you have around there? I guess he would be a…Squirrelvark?
That’s what I thought when I first saw the picture too, was that he looked more like an aardvark than a squirrel! Either way this is definitely another one of our weird squirrels. Did I mention they used to bury lead in a giant pile downtown back in the day, and spent much of the 90’s trying to dig it all up. It’s a wonder everyone here doesn’t have three heads…
Lead?!?! No wonder there are so many mutant squirrels around there! The stupidity of our species just never ceases to amaze me. The more I think about, the more I think squirrels should take over the world!
“What is that intoxicating smell? It’s not like anything I have encountered before. (sniff) I just can’t get enough of it? it’s making me light headed. I should put it down but still (sniff) what is that intoxicating smell?”
