Hey, the project is complete! After 13 weeks of voting, The Nest has finally put together its ultimate squirrel calendar from my favorite photos I’ve taken each month… and we couldn’t have done it without your help! Thanks for playing along each Thursday and helping to choose each monthly squirrel as well as our cover model, which unsurprisingly went to “Smile.” You won’t find this calendar at a retailer near you, or even in your grocer’s freezer. But nevertheless, if it did exist beyond the virtual world, here is what our finished product would look like!
WARNING: The following post contains extremely dangerous levels of cuteness! Parental discretion is advised!
I can see the march guy how he laughs when we go out in a t-shirt and get a snowsturm surprise
The squirrel is all-weather and can laugh a lot at us silly furless humans…
Nice calendar! I may print it and make my own. Do you mind? The squirrels are just too cute!
Go for it!
I still think that would sell. Really well. Better photography than most of the calendars I’ve seen displayed and all!! And June? Well this came to mind:
Ha! I one of my old SCT stories was a parody of the Pied Piper of Hamelin, played by one Mr. Fuzzywig. I’ll give you three guesses what was in his pipe….
Nice. So much squirreliness in one place. I think your calendar is one of a kind.
I like it more than any of the “professional” squirrel calendars I’ve had, but I am quite biased to photos used in this one.
Oh I love the final masterpiece. It’s definitely a cute overload – I still think this WOULD sell….absolutely. Lots of people love these little critters. They never fail to make me laugh when I watch them up in the trees or dashing around the yard. Keep on capturing them on film – we’ll NEVER get tired of seeing them!
Pam
Some people would buy it, but probably not at the price it would cost to actually make it. It looks good for free on my blog… and hopefully they’ll keep giving me lots of good opportunities for great photos! I’m really hoping for one more reasonably warm and dry day off before the end of the year to do another park shoot…
I think most people don’t realize how hard it is to sell any kind of photography these days, no matter HOW good it is … or how much it costs to print a full-color calendar. I have a friend that did it as a fund-raiser for her town, but it was too expensive even as a fund-raiser. I won’t even print in color on my own printer. Printing ONE 8X10 full-color shot uses basically ALL the ink. I do, however, if you like, have a printing company with good prices. You send them the jpgs and they produce the product. I’ve used them for printing tee-shirts, though I’ve never made a penny on any of them. But they LOOK really good and if you can get an assurance of buyers, the price can come way down. Also, you can set it up so that anyone who wants one can order it directly from the printer and you get your piece and they take theirs. They do high-quality work at reasonable prices.
I love how it all turned out! So much squirrely cuteness. Thanks for letting us help out by our votes for each month. Squirrels always bring a smile. 🙂
I had a lot of fun picking out my favorites and seeing which ones everyone else liked best. And I was often surprised at which ones my readers seemed to pull for!
LOVE IT! I think November might be my new favorite.
The November one was from our early season snowstorm last year, and I didn’t realize until this year how perfect that squirrel’s reaction was to the fact that there was both snow and autumn leaves on the tree!
Our tropical squirrels look shell-shocked when we get blue moon snow storms!
You should try to sell this – they are your photos after all. They are cute and like someone else I think the June one is just the best – until I got to the September one … sigh … aren’t they all just glorious?
Self publishing is a great way to lose money, no matter how great the product is… and there aren’t any cheap options I’ve seen for making a monthly photo calendar. Even the two websites I sell my digital art on (as if it’s really selling) don’t offer the service. While it’s a great and noble thought, it’s entirely too impractical… particularly with someone like me who lacks ambition.
Exceptionally cute. This is wonderful!
Thank you! Seeing the photos with actual calendar grids added beneath them turned out way better than what I even thought!
That’s great! Although I’m so invested by now I almost wish I could buy one.
😊
I wish I could sell you one. I’d even change the cover to my squirrel on a rock photo for you…
If I could think of a way to keep this and put it on a wall, I would. It’s gorgeous. Handsome and totally adorable stealers of birdfeed the world round 🙂
“Handsome And Totally Adorable Stealers Of Birdfeed The World Round 2020” would probably be too long to fit on the cover. I should get a birdfeeder just to watch them try to get at it…
They are insanely determined. If they weren’t eating ten times the amount of food the birds eat, I wouldn’t mind. They are getting quite roly-poly with lush coats. I do not think they are suffering because around lunchtime, I yell at them to go home already.
The best calendar ever!
Yes!
Yay, it’s a triumph! A very cool calendar.
I couldn’t have done it without everyone’s input. Now to work on nominees my 2021 Possum Calendar…
I’m NOT voting for “baby possums in a box”…
Pawsome calendar! Maybe you should do holiday cards next? You could make a mint on your Cafe Press shop.
Maybe I could if they did such a thing (They only offer one photo over a yearly calendar).
Speaking of pawsome calendar, maybe a possum calendar can be my next project…
They’re all such great pictures–what a lovely year!
Thanks! It will be the cutest year ever!
