Share Your World – Week 47

It’s about time to butter up the possum and put it on broil…

I won’t share my turkey with you, and I’ll shiv you with a butter knife if you dare to try and take the turkey skin.  But once each week, I’m in a generous enough mood to share my world.  And for that, we turn once again to Melanie’s questions she kindly posts each Monday.  Now will somebody please pass the Pepsi?

Meet the man who sold the world…. on Black Friday for 25% off.

What did you have for dinner last night?

I fried up some chicken breast strips… and no, not that frozen crap in a bag you nuke in the microwave.  I bread my own chicken.  It is literally the only reason I buy milk, flour OR eggs…. but completely worth it.  And a can of green beans to go with it, which is about as healthy as I get when it comes to eating…

Health food is so overrated.

Would you rather go out on a Saturday night or stay in?

I go out every Saturday night.  If I didn’t, I’d get in trouble at work for poor attendance…

I guess Thursday night would count as my Saturday night.  No, I don’t go out on that night either.  Or any night, really,  What is there to do anyway that can’t be done at home?

Yeah, doesn’t look like I’m missing out on much.

How are you, truthfully?

Fine

But not dandy…

What’s the best topping/ice cream combination?

First, you need soft serve vanilla ice cream.  That hard, scoopable stuff is great when it’s chocolate chip…. but if we’re talking toppings, it’s gotta be the Dairy Queen type ice cream that comes out of a pooper.  And the two toppings are, and are limited exclusively to, hot fudge and chopped peanuts.

And that’s the perfect sunduh.  Yes, I said sun-DUH, because that’s how it was always pronounced around here, and what I still like to call it even if most of the kids look at me like I’m a nutjob…

Ah, fresh from the unicorn!

Share Your Gratitude with a thought (quote), a picture or a short paragraph.

I’ll be sure to give thanks for this bountiful feast…. just as soon as I’m full!

  1. Thanks E.S. for Sharing Your Bountiful World! Even if it was bought for 25% off…. hmm. You can have my turkey skin if I can have the leg with the dark meat. I love dark meat the best, and since nobody else much (in my family) likes it, I can usually get as much as I want. And yeah, that sounded vaguely dirty to me too. Me & turkey/chicken or other poultry skin don’t get along well, although I do admire it sometimes when it’s really crispy. As long as it’s not greasy. Um. That squirrel sitting on his dinner square is likely to go away satisfied, in my opinion. Happy Thanksgiving Squirrel. Eat lots so you’re well prepared for Black Friday. Oops. Did I say that aloud? I hope it don’t put you off your food…

    • I’m not a fan of the dark meat, so together we might clean off a bird! I’ll be plenty gassed up…. I mean, prepared for Black Friday, though it’s not quite the event it used to be. Bring back the doorbusting days with blood in the aisles!

  2. HA! Another “skin” fan……I confess to loving turkey crispy skin as well as the skin of fried chicken (I know I shouldn’t buy the chicken with skin but my favorite part is the crispy skin). I prefer soft ice cream too – in fact, if what we have is frozen like a brick, I will nuke it for ten seconds and it’s perfect. As for toppings – well – gotta be dark chocolate. For a cone though gotta be chocolate and nuts. Now I’m starving……and I have to wait until dinner before feeding time rolls around – maybe I’ll go get a bowl of ice cream to tide me over. HAPPY THANKSGIVING E.S. !

  3. Easy on the turkey skins, it makes getting it tough to pull your yoga pants on. Happy Thanksgiving!
P.S. High 5 for the ice cream tidbit. Vanilla is always best, especially with hot fudge. I can go either way on the chopped peanuts though. 🍨

  4. I concur, soft serve is the best with toppings. I love vanilla soft serve with walnuts, pineapple and coconut, it’s called the Huntress Hawaiian special! Okay it’s really not, its a specialty that the Dairy Queen across from where I work has during the summer….

    • DQ has the best sundaes…. but damn, they’ve gotten way too expensive! Now my hot fudge sunduh sweet tooth only gets satisfied when me and my Mom go to Golden Corral every week…

Green beans? Steady on, dude, let’s not go crazy with the veggies…

  6. I love your last picture of the tail hanging off the munchies. When I look out my window in the morning, all I see are long furry tails hanging off the feeders. Today I actually had to chase one of them around the deck until he decided he was outgunned and dove for the nearest tree. Mind you he’d been hanging on the feeder since dawn, but clearly was still starving! Filled the feeders again and was glad we got another 20 lbs of seeds today. These squirrels need to work for their living. It’s not fair that all they do is eat all the time. They could at least clean the deck too!

  7. Trisha says:

Awwwww, I’m grateful for squirrels too. That picture is adorable! But peanuts with ice cream? I don’t know. Maybe I shouldn’t knock it before I’ve tried but, even though I like nuts okay by themselves, I don’t like them messing with the flavor of other things. But I’ll take them if I can pick them off and give them to my squirrel friends!

    • Oh yes! Chopped nuts on a hot fudge/chocolate sundae are perfect! I guess I’d think differently if I had a nut allergy… but I gotta eat lots and lots of nuts before I start having issues. Like when I used to make walnut brownies and I’d wake up with hives after eating half the pan before bed….

      • Trisha says:

Lol! Oh no! Getting hives must be awful. I’m allergic to walnuts too but I just get a headache and feel vaguely poisoned after eating them. The only time I remember getting hives was after getting scratched by my grandma and grandpa’s filbert tree and the hives were just around the scratch. Thankfully, I’m not allergic to peanuts so I can give that hot fudge sundae with peanuts a try. (Ignoring my slight but very unfortunate allergy to cane sugar, of course.)

  8. I’m fine but not dandy too. Quitting your job and having too much to do so you don’t get to sleep, write or game, will do that. Oh, and the loss of a pay check. I’d be dandies if you had liked my last 2 Wednesday posts since they were both squirrels. Happy Thanksgiving!

    • I could come up with a million lame excuses why I might have missed both of those posts…. but they wouldn’t suffice. It’s either a wonky Reader (which it has been lately) or not scrolling back far enough when I read on Thursdays. I’ve checked them both out and will be on the active lookout for future Wilderness Wednesdays!

      • No worries! I know my blog lately isn’t quite your “cup of tea” ( even I get bored with it sometimes). I don’t have much feedback from my 2 followers, so I notice when they disappear, esp. when I’m featuring their specialty, sexy squirrels. I thought you’d like them…they are so hard to photograph well. ADHD Lol

      • LOL! I’ve “harassed” people who’ve missed a number of my posts before too… so no worries. And thank you for letting me know, because I would not want to miss a post with cute squirrels!
