The Saturday Squirrel team at The Nest hopes your holiday feast is as bountiful and delicious as the one provided for this squirrel yesterday! Eat up, little guy… and put off the worry of shedding those excess calories until the new year…
Have a great weekend everyone!
Oh I bet he takes some of these treats back home to be part of his family’s holiday feast!
Pam
Or comes home with empty kernel husks all in his fur and gets the rolling pin from the missus…
Happy Holidays little squirrel. Looks like your fur coat is nice and warm.
I’ll bet it is! I was freezing at my window taking the pictures…
Aw! and what a nice thick coat this critter has. I am putting out acorns for my squirrels – nice big ones this year from a neighbor’s yard. Our pin oak only drop tiny ones.
Let the feast begin!
Aw, that’ll see him through the winter, with a little help from his thick winter coat.
Fat lot of good it will do him when it’s 60 degrees F on Christmas Day (if the forecasts are correct)…
Love this pic!!
This was my favorite of the handful of pictures I took of him eating!
Awwww, so cute! This is probably the only squirrel in the snow that I’ll see this year. We had snow last year so it will probably be…oh, about nine more years until we see it again.
That sucks! I wouldn’t want the snow to hang around any longer than normal, but it’s nice to have every once in a while… if only because it makes squirrel pictures even cuter.
Thanks, you have a great weekend too. Happy Solstice. 🙂
Thanks! Though it won’t feel much like Solstice since it will warm up the next few days…
My son gave me 40 lbs of seed for Christmas. Guess who were eating as much as possible this morning? No one goes hungry around here, though the dogs disagree. They — like the squirrels — are ALWAYS hungry.
Animals are always hungry, and their brains don’t let them worry about health or body image issues, so they just keep eating and eating and eating…
What a great shot, he looks like he doesn’t mind the snow and cold.
I’ll bet he didn’t mind it, but I sure was freezing with the window open taking the pictures!
That is a beautiful photo of a beautiful squirrel. Ohhhhhhhh. That is so lovely. Thanks you ES.
Nothing warm the heart like a cute, furry squirrel in the snow…
Darling! He seems more well mannered than his southern cousins here. The hicks from the sticks down here ate everything. Not one peach, apple, persimmon or fig was left for me this year, and they ate them green! EW!
PS: How do they stand the cold like this and not get frostbit toes?
You must have some really fat squirrels! That’s not a good quality to have in an area where they’re more likely to get shot at…
I don’t know the actual answer to that question… but maybe they can keep warmer without having to restrict blood flow to the extremities like people….
What a great shot!
Stay warm and full! 🥜🐿
The Bigly Bestest and I send Christmas wishes to you and your delightful kitties…and all the shelf-critters too, of course!
