Pardon Our Dust

Photo somehow rejected for a spread in Better Nests And Gardens.

So here’s the result I was left with after yesterday’s work on my plumbing nightmare.  I never thought of a wheelbarrow and a jackhammer as trendy kitchen decor before, but then again, home design isn’t my thing.  I tried twice, each of the last two mornings, to put together a Random Image Inspiration piece for this week… but I just wasn’t feeling it with the random mess going on.

So here I am for another day with no running water, a hole to China in my kitchen floor, and (literally) no toilet since it’s being replaced.  Just how I anticipated spending my three days off….

I need to keep Snuggle Bear from hiding any bodies in this trench.

If you think pets go nuts when they hear fireworks…. try the soothing sound of jackhammering going on in the house.  The poor things….

Get that evil beast out of here!!! And for once, I don’t mean Biskit.

I haven’t been on the computer much the last couple days, so I’ve let my comments and reading go.  Hopefully The Nest will be back to somewhat normal business next week….

  1. Ack! That’s tough-poor kitties! Hope it all gets restored to working order soon!

  2. Can’t even imagine what halls of hell that must be like having everything torn up – an underground cave in your kitchen, dust/dirt everywhere and all that noise. Hopefully at least the problems have been found and the worker bees are fixing them and will be putting “Humpty Dumpty” back together again soon. I guess you’ll get a new floor out of it anyway – AND a brand new toilet! Some bright spots in the midst of chaos.

  3. I’m so sorry Squirrel!! I hope things calm down, you have running water and indoor plumbing once again and all is peaceful for your New Year. Those poor kitties. Yes, heavy machinery does tend to freak out the fur kids. We’ll be here waiting when you’re able and inspired once again. Take care!

  4. Yikes, hope the Christ-mess is getting under control.

  5. Wishing you as soon as possible somekind of a normal life, like having a toilet.

  6. Aw man, sorry to hear your days off are being plagued by home deconstruction and angry cats. One of them is ready to buzz you with his laser eyes he’s so angry. Keep your chin up Evil, and watch your back, lol.

    • The cats must think I’m torturing them by inviting this wrecking crew in here. They still don’t know how to reach the cat food, so I think they’ll be smart enough not to try and do me in…

  7. I hate interior work in the house. I always have. Periodiclally, I have no choice but to bit the bullet and let it happen, but you have my heartfelt sympathies. Try not to freak out completely. I remember having a new bathroom installed and having to find a local hotel with a toilet. It was awful!

    • The non-toilet is really irritating me, because its inconvenience is worse since it’s forcing me to avoid eating stuff I know will make me go… which is a good part of my routine. But I’ll be up to five days without a toilet by the time it (hopefully) gets put in on Monday…

  8. Yikes. I hate that sort of thing. Good luck with it all.

Hope it doesn’t take long to get back to normal around there. Major inconvenience for you and the cats.

  10. Funny reading your post saying hole to China. Hahaha

  11. Trisha says:

Ugh, that is just unimaginably awful! Worse than our bathroom flood and kitchen flood put together because at least we had a working toilet and sink downstairs throughout both disasters. And no hole going to China. I’m so sorry you and the terrified kitties have to deal with this. 😢

Holy hole, Batman. That’s a pretty major job you’ve got going on there. I hope they’re done with it soon, but with all the ongoing issues you mentioned in your other post at least once it’s done you’ll have tip-top plumbing.

Renovating, especially bathrooms, is the worst! I hope the nightmare is over soon:-)

You got my sympathies. No toilet? That is barbaric. And I should know something about barbarism … Being a hun …

  15. I’m sorry! Hope it’s fixed soon.
