You have about 12 hours left. Do you have YOUR Contest of Whatever entry in yet?
I’ve pretty much given up on trying to make Tuesday The Nest’s World Sharing day. Thursday looks to be the day from now on…. not that anyone other than myself would have noticed my lame attempt at assigning days to features. With that needlessly said, let’s get on with the SYW thing with the questions Melanie has come up with for this week. I’m ready to crack open a brand new box of ridiculous answers…
What do you think of best friends of the opposite sex? Or to put it another way “Can men and women ever be platonic friends? Doesn’t sex always get in the way?”
I would guess they could be friends, if neither was a horny bastard (or bitch). But it’s hard for me to answer this question due to my antisocial tendencies I’ve had and nurtured throughout my life. I don’t interact with the “friends” I have (of either sex) in the same ways as most other people do with their friends (of either sex). It’s foolish to deny, however, that sexual tension has a way of worming itself into many intergender relationships of any flavor….
What is the greatest struggle you’ve overcome?
Accepting my personality faults and flaws and using them to carve out my own little happy spot in this world. I have personal demons that would devour many people stronger than myself, and so many people are not as lucky as I am to have been able to accept who they are. One great thing about building a wall around yourself is that you don’t have to worry about feeling inferior comparing yourself to others around you in the world…
What is the darkest thought you’ve ever had? What about the darkest thing you’ve done that you’ve never told anybody about?
Anyone who would answer the first question truthfully is either a sociopath who literally doesn’t care what people think about them, or is in denial that their mind can conjure up truly nasty and deeply disturbing thoughts. We all have a dark side… and I’m not talking about the place with cookies and shitty Darth Vader memes. My dark side shows a bit more than others (read any SCT episode to see it)…. but it barely scratches the surface of what lurks in my imagination.

Oooh, cute bunnies! I need to corrupt this picture!
A lot of my darkest thoughts come from my refusal to accept that anything in this world is truly pure and innocent… and my subsequent distaste for anything that, in all seriousness, pretends to be all sunshine and rainbows. I see cute bunnies, like what came up in last week’s Random Image Inspiration post… I’ll awwwwww. And then I’ll fetch Zeeba to drag them back down to reality…
What is your least favorite food?
Anything I haven’t tried before. I’m a fussy eater…
Share a thought, write a story or poem or share a meme about gratitude. If you’d like to. As with the other questions, this is optional.
I am grateful that there are other people out there on WordPress who like squirrels, and who photograph them. You know you want to see a picture of a red squirrel on a railing in the snow with a pine cone in its mouth….
When I got up this morning at around six, there were squirrels all over the feeders. I guess flying squirrels take over at night, the leaping squirrels get the morning, and the finches overwhelm the feeders the rest of the day with intermittent feeding by woodpeckers.
The problem is that I can’t bring myself to pick up a camera at six in the morning. I can barely stagger out of bed to give the dawgz a treat, but focus a camera?
We all have a dark side and most of us just shut up about it. And I intend to stay that way.
I wouldn’t want to grab a camera after just waking up either. I guess that’s where my weird hours help me out by having me be actually awake at times others would just want to roll over and go back to sleep…
This time around your “world sharing” reflects a whole bunch of the same stuff I feel – The longer I’m on this earth the more cynical I’ve become about a lot of stuff but I am “cynical with a smile” because hey – I’m still HERE! I saw a HUGE number of squirrels in our yard yesterday and wondered if they know something I don’t…….”gather ye acorns while ye may” ???
Pam
They seem to play in bunches… I’ve noticed that. Where you usually see maybe one or two, there might suddenly be a dozen or so! That said, you might want to be ready for that big earthquake or volcano or hurricane or whatever is coming!
Ah Evil Squirrel, you make my day!! George Carlin (he is mourned. Deeply by some of us) is a GRAND way to Share Your World!! Shows you’ve got a great sense of humor which matches nicely with mine own. And yes, who doesn’t love a squirrel? I wish they had them up here actually, but I suppose you’d need big old trees for them to feel comfortable and this place doesn’t like ‘big old trees’…have killed off all the ones that were here. A six year old tree (which I have) just doesn’t have the stature to encourage a family or two of squirrels. So I read your posts and Marilyn’s and others and enjoy my squirrel virtually. It’s better than no squirrel at all!! 😛
I love classic Carlin. I remember watching his specials on HBO in the 80’s and 90’s (Who cares if I was still a kid and wasn’t supposed to hear that language…. I had cool parents). I don’t always agree with him, but love the way he humorously challenges your views on life. Feel free to use my blog vicariously as your window to the squirrels’ playground. I used to live in the industrial part of the city that didn’t have many squirrels. Too many people and not enough trees…
I feel the same way about the “cool people” and their idea of a good time. They can be obnoxious drunks without me. It’s Friday night and I’m right where I want to be; at home with my dogs!
That red squirrel with the pinecone is so cute! I asked for a box of Eurasian red squirrels for Christmas but Santa didn’t deliver. 😦
Wow, some dark and personal questions this week. I’ll have to get my thinking cap on for how to avoid answering them properly this week…
Go, Zeeba, go!
Thanks for the link. Guess who I caught dumpster diving during a snowstorm. He was so cute with snow on his whiskers, but the wind nearly blew him off the railing. Lol
