Dang! Those spiky gum fruit things look like the coronavirus! EEEEEK!
Pam
You don’t want to breathe one of those things in either…
You have a great weekend too.
We had a house with a sweet gum tree in the yard. Those messy little spiky things never disappear from your lawn. They have the staying power of a virus.
They are perpetual and they pile up like crazy. Plus, they qualify as weapons of mass destruction…
Tiptoe through the…. well, those sure aren’t tulips.
Tiny Tim would stumble onto his ukulele trying to tiptoe through that patch…
Can the squirrels eat them or do they just have to tiptoe around them?
I can’t imagine anything could eat those things without them tearing up their throats. They were made not to be foraged by other critters…
Oh, I thought there was maybe fruit inside like the way they crack open our black walnuts shells to eat the nuts inside!
I have no idea what’s inside of them, and I’ve never seen a squirrel even pick one up before. They have the texture of a porcupine…
He does look like he’s tip toeing very carefully. Squirrels look so weird when they walk, maybe because they rarely do!
Yeah, it still looks weird to see one prowling around like a cat. But I wouldn’t run through those things even with shoes on…. good way to twist an ankle!
Owwwie!!
😮
Awk!! Those ‘seed pods’ are worse than land minds! I first encountered them on a trip to California a few years back and was fascinated until I tried to pick one up. We don’t have those that I’ve seen in the Mile High. Stay safe from gum tree land mines!
Those trees are a staple in the Midwest, and are extremely annoying to both two and four footers trying to walk near them.
Cwap!!
Shoks
His poor little paws!
That’ll teach him to go our barefoot like that…
Prickly balls. Squirrels are so smart. Not much can stop them.
I’ve been watching squirrels all day. I need to take some photos and send them in. They’re so cute.
Yes, you should! We need more cute squirrels…
