Squirrels In The Park – Trip 8

If you ever wondered why people like Wimpy and Sheryl Crow had such a fascination with Tuesday, it’s probably because they enjoyed my weekly archives of past park trips I’ve been posting on that day.  Edition number eight of Squirrels In The Park takes us back to the late summer morn of Monday August 22, 2016.  This is probably my most iffy title card (Always the first photo from that day’s archive) of the bunch so far since the picture is a bit dark and fuzzy… but I love that brown splotch on this squirrel’s maw.  He looks like he’s been eating chocolate covered acorns…

Ah, classic….

Of all the gaudy looking ear notches I’ve seen on park squirrels over the years (Clearly some form of manmade markings as part of a trap and release deal), this one takes the cake.  I’ll admit, it looks pretty emo and fierce… but even Vincent Van Gogh thinks that’s too much ear to sacrifice for any reason…

Another not-quite-as-severe-but-still-very-noticeable ear notch…

I don’t blame you for wanting to be in the shade on a hot summer day, but you might want to get your head out of the sun as well…

This weather will turn anyone into a zombie…

You guys weren’t going to dig through that trash can, were you?  The one in the front seems too innocent to trash the park like that, but that squirrel in the back is definitely up to something…

I was just going to pose for you. How could you accuse me of being up to something?

Well….. maybe I jumped to conclusions a bit….

Ummmmmm, does that tree bark taste good, pal?  Should I fetch a packet of ketchup?

Well, someone scored a big, unripened nut!

#$@*(@#^*(!&!!!

Hey!  Watch your language!  There are children at the park…

Now you’re just showing off.  Just eat it already…

Hello?

I just love this photo where the squirrel is bending over backwards to look at me!  Any other animal would have fallen out of the tree attempting that stunt…

This squirrel found a cherry, or some type of red colored fruit!  Now that actually looks appetizing…. at least before the squirrel put it in his mouth.

Hey, where can I find some fruit like that? Nuts give me gas…

Well, that’s…. unfortunate.  Sorry buddy, but I can’t help you find any fruit.

That’s an awful thick coat of belly fur to be lugging around in August!  Poor thing needs a crew cut…

Look what I found! A Box of Boogers!

That’s gross!

Hey, don’t knock it until you’ve tried it!

Yeah, that will be never.  I also don’t eat strange food I found laying on the ground…

You don’t know what you’re missing, dude!

I’ll just take your word on that.

Yummy, yummy!!!!

Just stop that!!!

Actually, I’ll make sure you stop that, because this is the end of our retro squirrel safari for this week.  Join me again next Tuesday for another adorable adventure…

  1. Hmm….a mystery munch huh? Kinda looks like a chunk of moss. Maybe he’s on a special diet? Great photos……

    • I have no idea what that was. It kinda looks like some kind of floral growth off of a bud, though August is a bit late for most plants to be blooming. It must have really tasted good, whatever it was!

  2. love the nut photos… squirrels have nuts.. … more than people yay!

  3. Rivergirl says:

Some classic squirrelly goodness right there..

  4. The cuteness meter dialed waaay up!

  5. That last image could easily be the tree rat, er squirrel that has been shredding my Honey Locust sapling. Why can’t the squirrels of Denver be cute and curvy like your second image. We can always use more Marilyn Monroe-esque squirrels instead of John Carpenter-like ones.

  6. You have a great collection of squirrel photos, and they all are amazing, nice to see them in their daily businesses.

Zombie squirrels should definitely be the next big thing to be coming out of Hollywood. I feel thus far they’ve missed this profitable niche.

  8. Awesome photos of our little buddies. They certainly are busy so why don’t peeps say “Bus as squirrels” instead of “busy as bees?” I don’t know what bees are ding but these furry fellows are storing nuts and ripening them….eating. This I understand.

    • It’s just more speciesism against squirrels. That’s why they also talk about the birds and the bees rather than the squirrels and the…. um….. possums, who also to those things.
