Ready for another suburban adventure checking out our squirrel friends at the park? This Tuesday’s trip took place on Thursday morning March 15, 2018…. the Ides of March! And yes, what you see was my first photo in the batch, so I was obligated to use it as my title card. What’s funny is that because of the filenames I use for my squirrel pics, this picture was side by side in my archive with the final picture from my 3/11/17 trip, so I wound up with twin squirrel behinds in my album! It also meant I knew this was coming, so enjoy your squirrel mooning/nutting/whatever you want to call it!
OK, let’s see what kind of not-so-lewd squirrel pics we can find on this late winter/early spring day….
Oh, come on, it wasn’t that bad….
Stop it! Now! Please start acting cute for my patient audience…
There, that’s a whole lot better!
No, this isn’t left over from last week’s Fall collection. Apparently that one tree stubbornly held onto its leaves all winter long…
Who’s the expert here, squirrel? Me or you?
Well, those buds in the background certainly say Spring. If you can see them past the cute squirrel…
That looks like a piece of hard corn, though I don’t know where he’d have found that in the park…
Another one of the park’s infamous ear notch emo squirrels…
This was the photo that inspired 2019’s Contest of Whatever theme! Even the way he has his arm sitting on the stump makes this look like he’s sitting at a bar! He just needs a few drinks and some beer nuts…
He looks happy. Maybe he just left the bar…
This squirrel’s still packing plenty of his winter fur…
Well, who knew the squirrel bar had a patio area?
Just please make sure you clean up your mess before you leave. This is a self service establishment…
I was going to ask the same thing…
BOING!
The spiky “gumballs” in the background make for a nice ornament. Plus, you can’t step on them when they’re still way up in the tree like that…
This squirrel looks a bit cross about something…
AAAAA!!!! It’s Squirrelzilla!!!! No wait, that’s a tree in a pot! Nevermind…
Look at that thin twig he’s perched on! How does he do that!?!?!?
WTF???
No. Just please, don’t scare the children…
Spiky tail and an ear notch!
The very first underneath view of a squirrel leaping between tree branches that I ever got!
Good idea…
And on that weird note, it’s time to end this week’s look back. I’ll have another summary of my next trip to the park next Tuesday!
you got me with the word november… and I could bury my head in the ground in this heat LOL
If I tried burying my head in the ground, I’d drown from all of the rain…
In the midst of our ‘year of discontent’, Evil Squirrel comes flying (leaping) to our aid and provides photos to chase away the bluest of moods! And who knew squirrels had nuts? I was (mostly) uninformed until I saw your title photo. Now that squirrel really lets them all hang out, doesn’t he?
I’d read somewhere that squirrel nuts usually aren’t particularly visible outside of mating seasons… and there does seem to be some truth to that, since most of my pictures that have very visible sciurine scrotums were taken in the Spring. And they can get pretty big in comparison to their body…. I can’t imagine trying to climb a tree with such a sensitive organ dragging under me like that… ouch!
Now that is a stellar collection of pics. Many calendar worthy shots…. nutting aside of course. No one wants to wake up March 1rst to that!
🤣
I’m sure there’s a market somewhere for lewd squirrel calendars… I just have to find it!
Amazon. They have everything…
Whoa…less “Ides” please! 🤣 That first photo made me look for some eye bleach. Luckily there are a number of subsequent photos to focus on. 🐿
You should see if there’s a squirrel backside emoji…
Trust me, I looked. 😇
Cute clothespin! 🙂
Maybe I should try to patent the squirrel designed clothespin!
Another great batch of squirrels doing that thing squirrels do so well – looking cute!!!!
Pam
I wish they’d give me the secret on how to do that!
They are so cute!! I have discovered that ours love apple cores…
I wouldn’t doubt that, I’ve seen them eat so many things. Even cheese goop!
We have crape trees and they love the seeds.
I wonder if all these ear-notch squirrels are part of a secret squirrel sect, who get their ears notched to show their loyalty to “the cause”…
If that’s true, I hope the rebellion happens during one of my trips. It would be cool to capture it for posterity! Do they award Pulitzer prizes posthumously?
They are so cute all, excellent photos!
Thanks!
I have some very rude picture of a squirrel that I haven’t posted because they are SO rude. But I’ll send you the shot. It’s just up your alley 😀
