Keep On The Grass

Whoa! It’s a jungle out here!

It might be time to mow your lawn when the grass is taller than the squirrels.

While I’m a master procrastinator when it comes to this unwelcome rite of home ownership, the offending lawn in this case isn’t mine.  It’s the yard two down from mine which belonged to a then-vacant house which has since been spiffed up and resold.  Maybe if the grass wasn’t so high, the cute squirrels would have given it some more curb appeal.

As for this week’s Saturday Squirrel….. well, while he’s finding his way through the tall grass, he should get himself an army helmet and brush up on his fake German accent…

Have a verrrrry interesting weekend everyone!

  1. Arte used to crack me up big time but then that whole show did…..The grass Mr. Squirrel is enjoying looks nice and green – and I see a rose bush struggling in the background – I bet the new owner is nurturing it instead of ignoring it!

    • I can’t see from my vantage point since the neighbor between us’ truck is in the way, but I know the people who were working on the house a month ago completely redid the flower beds, so I’m not sure that rosebush is still there. The grass is finally short enough to see the squirrels again, though!

Squirrels employing periscopes is a definite indicator it’s time to mow the lawn.

  3. I think that should be an official measure, Fraser taller than squirrel = mowing time. Lol 🤣

  4. Bwahahaha! I’m old enough to love the ‘verrrrry interesting’ reference. Gawd, I miss that show that poked fun at EVERYTHING. Sock-it-me, sock-it-me…sock. it. to. me. 🥊

    • I watched it in reruns on Nick at Nite in my teen years and fell in love with that show. I know I make frequent use of its catchphrases in my posts. Now it’s time for me to say goodnight Dick…

That long grass is making it a bit of an adventure for the little fella.

    • It’s no different than a human adventurer slashing through the jungle. Only rather than a ferocious tiger, the squirrel only has to worry about running into one of the hood cats…

You should give him a tiny machete:-)

That is one thick, bushy tail! I can’t wait until the squirrels start getting their winter fur here. Their tails are pretty thin and ratty looking right now.

One of my backyard squirrels made an interesting discovery this morning; it discovered how to get in to the forbidden garden where we hid the sunflowers, corn and pumpkins. Now I’m imagining it saying “very interesting!” as it sniffed out all the sunflower seeds. It was probably also thinking “very interesting!” as it learned how easy it is to scale the wire fence to make its escape too. Nothing stops them for long!
