Share Your World – Week 86

Murphy, you little fucker! You jinxed this whole damned year!

A bad month has gotten even worse for me this week.  Ody began having a series of problems on Sunday night that has now cascaded into his second hospitalization this week and a very murky prognosis.  I’ll spare you the gory details, but this has been a horrible adventure the past few days… and just two weeks after I lost Biskit.  I could also complain about the utterly outrageous costs of the animal hospital I was referred to by default this morning (More than I’ve spent at my regular vet in the past 10 years), but that would seem tacky in light of the situation.

And now that I have some time, I’m going to give Melanie and Roger’s Share Your World questions for this week my normal college try and see if my sense of humor is still intact through all of this chaos…

One of my favorite gifts that Harry Potter received came from the Weasley Twins; and was “Mrs. Mooney’s Marauder’s Map”. This magical document showed every classroom, hallway and secret corner in all of Hogwarts. It also showed you the location- by name- of every person in Hogwarts.  If you had such a magical map of your town, what would you use it for?

The map cleans better than the sandpaper we sell at Mecca…

When was the last time you made a snowball? Were in a snowball fight?

MITZI: Lookie!!!  Mitzi, like, totally made a snowball just now!!!

I don’t know how you accomplished that, Mitzi, given that it’s August.

MITZI: Mitzi can, like, make snowballs anytime of the year when she uses her mouf!!!

Your mouf…. uh, mouth!?!?

MITZI: Yeppers!  Shadow’s, like, totally not having a strange feeling inside of his Pokeyballs anymore!!!

SCRATCHY: (Doing her best Yakko Warner impersonation) Good night everybody!!!!

Many cultures set great value in each child of the family having godparents. Did you have godparents? Are you a godparent yourself?

I have no idea.  My Mom’s side of the family was Catholic, and I’ve been told I was Baptized (A lot of good that did)… but I’m clueless about whether or not I have godparents.  My parents both emerged from religious families as heathens…

I do have a godpigeon. And that’s two Animaniacs references in two questions now!

You have found a secret tunnel under your house. Where does it go?

I’ll have to ask my plumbers who dug it 8 months ago…

And they took all the buried treasure they found to pay the bill…

Is intelligence or wisdom more useful?

According to our American school system, neither is anywhere near as important as rote memorization.  And even that isn’t really important anymore since we all have access to Google.

It’s a brave new world of stupidity!

How important is play in living a healthy and fulfilling life?

Playing games has all kinds of healthy benefits!  See for yourself!

Brought to you by the makers of Red Bull and Parents For A Quarantined America.

Is happiness just chemicals flowing through your brain or something more?

In a purely scientific nature, everything we experience, including consciousness itself, is just chemicals running through the brain.  May as well add some more to the mix…

The Good Stuff is the very essence of our existence.

The gratitude section is out for this week, so let’s look back at some more of my old comics again since you all miss them so much.  I’m very much in a stress-releasing possum-killing mood, and Buster’s propensity for sudden and unusual deaths precedes Shelf Critter Theatre and can be found in many of my old strips!  Let’s look back on some of the best of Buster’s comical expirations…

Oh man. I’m so sorry to hear you’ve been dealing with challenges with Ody, and even sorrier to hear about the loss of Biskit. 🙁 Hoping things start looking up for you again very soon. Hang in there 💜

  2. beth says:

    Best wishes to ody

  3. we wish we had such a map… but our favorite thing by da weasley twins is da u-no-poo , even avilable in france, but they name it chcocolate ice cream with brownies by downtown. we cross our paws for Ody… as hard as we can…

  4. First, I am truly sorry to read about Ody (may he recover nicely). That’s awful news. Thanks Bill for Sharing Your World and your humor (which is NOT absent, even in your present trying times) with us all. I bet that map would be great fodder….. Ziggy sends his regards. In a canine to feline way of course..

  5. Always ALWAYS love to see the old ‘toons……they make an ordinary day so much better. So very sorry to hear about Ody and hoping the murky prognosis brightens up – sincerely.

I hope Ody gets to feeling better soon. ❤

  7. Trisha says:

I’m so sorry Ody is sick now. I hope he recovers quickly and is back home, or at least gets to come home very soon. I’ll be thinking of you both.

  8. So sorry to hear about Ody being under the weather. Sending healing energy your way. Yeah, my vet said we can do anything for pets that we do for humans, the only limit is being able to pay for it. Here’s hoping he gets better soon. 😺

So sorry about Ody’s health and Biskit’s passing. Sending positive thoughts to you. As for your questions, I didn’t find out I had been baptized Anglican until I was in my 30s. Always thought I was Presbyterian. Not that it matters—I haven’t been in a church for years even though I live next to 2 of them!

  10. Poor Ody. Oh no. That is heartbreaking news. Hope he gets better and whatever is wrong is just temporary. Hugs.

Thank you for a walk down memory lane with Buster.

    Ooh, I have PlayStation thumb…

So sorry to hear about Ody, I hope he will be okay.

Hahaha! I agree that a map cleans better than sandpaper- but … I love you secret tunnel answer. Sorry, I got around late this week, but I guess “better late than never.” I am so glad you tried the Potter questions. Hope to see you next week.
