Toddling Around

Need to get away from the creepy human…

If you missed last week’s Saturday Squirrel post, I introduced you to some of the first pictures I got of a baby squirrel I discovered in my backyard last Friday.  It was easily the tiniest squirrel I’ve ever seen for myself, and he wasn’t done entertaining me that day.  He started climbing back up the trunk of the tree, and I lost sight of him…

Where did you go, little guy?

Oh, there you are!

Hide and seek’s a kids game you know…. oh wait, I am a kid.

I found him sitting on a small branch about 30 feet off the ground.  You might freak out of a human baby sat on a balcony that far up, but I think our little squirrelette will be just fine.

This looks like the perfect place to hide from mommy.

So far, all I was able to take of my little visitor was pictures of him in the tree.  I was really hoping he’d come down onto the ground…

Well, that’s a start…

Oh, he’s down to the bottom of the tree!

I’m not doing this for you, you know…

Will he venture down onto the ground into terra incognito?

I’ll bet you’re going to keep your readers in suspense, aren’t you?

So young, yet so wise….

We’ll see what our tiny Saturday Squirrel does next week!

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. He or she really is a very young one indeed……looking right at you in many of the photos too. Maybe he thinks the guy with the camera will toss him a peanut one of these days?

    Cuuuuute! 🙂

  3. How adorable!! ❤ ❤ I tune in to "Saturday Squirrel" any way, but Baby Saturday Squirrel has got me enchanted. I'll be back to see where he ventures next….. (thank you, very sincerely, for giving me something to grin widely at. It's going to storm and all is gloomy in Utah)…

  4. So what you’re saying is they begin the tormenting/teasing early on in life? 🐿

It’s Tiny SquirrelWatch! Are there no parent squirrels looking after him or is he already out on his own?

    • There was nobody else around the day I saw him. There were three adult squirrels out in the yard Friday with no sign of the little one. I have yet to see him a second time (though I rarely look out)…

  9. So cute. Wait until he grows into those feet.

  10. I think these are some of the best pictures you’ve ever taken of your furry friends. Really great shots. Sharp, clear, and close. We’ve got a few baby squirrels this week. They must have left the nest recently. But unlike baby birds who are often surprisingly ugly, these little guys look like perfect squirrels, just smaller.
