Since there was no telling how long our inch of winter was going to stick around, I considered it a priority to make sure I got some pics of the squirrels out in it before the big melt happened. Throwing some peanuts and corn out eventually attracted this happy little fellow. Happy, of course, being used extremely sarcastically…. though I don’t know if his grumpy face had more to do with the snow he was going to have to wade in, or the fact that he noticed me in the window.
Cheer up, dude, and go feed your cute little face so I can take some shots for my readers!
He’s got quite the coat of fur on him. Though it hasn’t gotten excessively cold this winter, it’s remained consistently cold enough to need that fur coat.
And he’s just as warm and fuzzy on the other side, as well…
I hope you enjoyed the corn, Mr. Warm and Fuzzy Saturday Squirrel. Just be careful what you dig out of the snow that’s yellow….
Have a great weekend everyone!
Wonderful pics! He may look grumpy but I’m sure he’s quite pleased with the treats.
I’m sure he was smiling on the inside….. way underneath all that fur.
So cute! I’m sure he appreciated the treats. Happy Saturday! 🙂
He probably did, but I’ll never get a thank you. And I’ll still keep feeding them…
You too, have a good weekend!
Thanks!
Be sure to avoid the brown nuggets too little fellow. 💩
You mean those aren’t Hershey Kisses?
Maybe he’s just sleepy……I bet he was napping and came down to see what the crazy guy in the house threw out in the snow. At least he can return to “nap land” with a full tummy!
Pam
He should be glad he got it all to himself and nobody else was around! Nobody else wanted to brave cold feet, I guess…
So cute little one! Great series of photos.
Thank you. Our snow lasted two days, now the rain all day has turned everything to mud…
We have snow for three winters now, and I saw paw prints of a squirrel in the yard, so they are here somewhere.
His coat is magnificent, and it reassures me that he is staying snug and warm in his nest. The addition of some corn and other goodies from you no doubt is greatly appreciated. The crab face might be from being awoken abruptly. Nobody looks good just after they’re startled awake. At least he didn’t lob an acorn husk at you!
Someone needs to remind his that squirrels are diurnal and that means no naps! Especially in the winter when the days are so short. Come to think of it, with the attitude and sleepiness, this squirrel may have been an old coot…
That first photo is especially cute. 🙂
Yeah, that’s a definite case of flashing the stink eye at someone!
He’s all nice and warm in his nest and then you go and entice him out into the freezing cold snow…
The next day he’s like “Corn? I don’t remember eating corn!”
These are great photos. Glad your could coax him into eating your offerings so you could snap these.
Very good shots! I was expecting to see an actual arctic fox 😀 I met one at a zoo( not in a cage) and I got to pet him. He looked just like your guys (and mine too, I guess), but was a little bigger, had a thicker coat and was SOOOO soft!
Cute! He does look a little grumpy in that first photo but it looks like the treats cheered him up. I’m so jealous. It’s looking like another blah year of no winter here (Except for that one night snow that melted by morning). I really want to see my clueless, clumsy bunch of young squirrels in the snow.
