While rainy, hot and humid conditions kept a trip to the park out of the question during my 5 day vacay, I was able to take a few minutes on Thursday to get a few squirrel pictures for my collection from the comfort of my front door, the first ones I’d taken in two months. And what few I have are all of this little guy, who braved the late morning heat to snatch up a few of the snacks I threw out in the front yard. And yes, I think he felt sorry for me not getting any good squirrel pics lately when he turned around and smiled at me like this. Thanks for your pity, but even if that look is genuine, you still make a very fine Saturday Squirrel!
Have a great weekend everyone!
By gosh that little guy IS smiling! How nice! A smile of appreciation for the snacks no doubt.
Pam
He probably thinks all of those goodies just rained down from the heavens, like all those acorns in the backyard…
A fool and his nuts …
This squirrel is no fool, and he’s eating corn, so I think he’s good.
But he might be thinking that of you … 😉
Only thing missing in that image (apart from cooler temps) is a grass skirt. 🌴 Stay cool. On the plus side, only 67 days of the misery left until the official arrival of autumn.
There’s plenty of dead grass from my weeks-late cutting in the backyard to make hula skirts for the entire nest…
Aw. Spreadin’ the joy! What a great shot! Beautiful squirrel and peace and plenty in the Squirrel’s Yard! Lovely! Stay cool this weekend!
One good shot at home is worth two hours wasted at the park…
Cute critters, unless your River, they seem to wreak havoc over at her place. But, I found we have cute critters on campus now, I’ve seen three total every morning.
They love me. Mainly because I don’t care what they eat and tear up! Better yet if they poop in the engine of my neighbor’s loud ass pickup truck…
He’s a cutie!
And he knows it!
We’re having endless rain here. We had some sun this morning, but now it’s dark and I hear thunder. It isn’t quite as hot as yesterday, but it’s still hot and very humid. I remember a vacation — one involving a long drive and money — during which it rained continuously. We were on top of a mountain, so it was also foggy. No pictures unless I wanted to show what life looked like from the middle of a cloud!
The only mountain I was ever on top of, it stormed like crazy. And I was expected to just get out of the van in the middle of a hellish lightning storm. No thank you…
Send some to us in Arizona…
Squirrels? OK…
Okay Frank, you’ve drawn the short straw, get out there and do the cute squirrel thing…
He’s sucking it up like a champ, though. And now the girls will all be asking for him…
Definitely a blog worthy pose!
He had his back turned to me most of the time! I was happy he turned around, and even happier with the smile…
The squirrels must really like you to smile at you like this! In all the squirrel watching I’ve done, I don’t think I’ve ever seen them smile. The last one I saw here looked slightly annoyed as he peered in my back door. I’ve really slacked on feeding them this summer.
I only throw out food about once a week or so… but they still smile at me anyway. or maybe it’s a shit eating grin, knowing what horrible things they have planned for me!
