Whenever I run out of recent squirrel photos that are Saturday blog worthy, I can usually flip open a random photo archive from back in the day and easily find a gem that didn’t get its due at the time. This week, we flash back to June of 2015 and this adventurous squirrel who seems to be checking out the tall weeds and grass on the other side of my backyard ditch to see if it’s safe to pass through. Who knows what kind of deadly fauna and flora might be lurking in that thick jungle?
But this week’s Saturday Squirrel is bold enough to go where no critter has gone before…
Have a great weekend everyone!
Love this one! Ever the intrepid explorers, squirrels.

Curiosity isn’t just for cats…
Shopping in the fresh veggie aisle at the Squirrelville Grocery Store…….
Pam
He’s liable to find some exotic greens in that selection. Though he’ll have to scrape off the bugs before serving…
An explorer with a very thin tail.
Their tail fur will thin out to where you can see the outline of the actual tail in our warm muggy summers. I’ve got a few pictures where they look like they’re sporting a bottle brush behind them…
Aren’t bugs the protein portion of the squirrel diet? I keep thinking “periscope UP” when I see that little guy. Nobody is gonna sneak up and surprise him! I do have one question though. Was it the angle of the shot or was that squirrel’s tale actually that skinny? I’ve never seen a skinny tailed squirrel before!
Oh, and just because we’re all thinking it:
Summer squirrels don’t have much fur on their tails, which, if you stripped them clean, would be nothing but oversized rat tails. It’s all the fluff that gives people the impression that squirrels have really thick tails…
That squirrels upright posture reminds me of shades of Artie Johnson’s character from Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In. Verrry interrresting. [https://youtu.be/_SVSak1oBCw]
If he would have been facing the camera, I would have made that reference. I love working Laugh-In gags into my blog, and have done that one several times…
That show was ground breaking for so many reasons. Reality shows these days don’t come close.
I watched it in the late 80’s/early 90’s on Nick at Nite, and even though I was too young to get all the humor, it was so silly, it was one of my favorite shows. I also enjoyed how two of their “news of the future” predictions actually came true…. Reagan becoming President and they even got the year right on when the Berlin Wall came down!
He went in. But did he ever come back out? 😮
I don’t know. I should send Buster in to search for him….
Very cute!
Adding a squirrel to any environment tends to raise the cute factor…
Deep in the heart of the Amazon, one lone squirrel…
He just needs a little machete…
Don’t worry Mr. Squirrel, you’ll find your nuts.
As always this is just too precious!
Only if a giant anaconda doesn’t find them first…. no wait, that’s just a worm.
