It wasn’t the most interesting week of my life, and I’m not going to make it sound like it was. But I have a regular feature to deliver anyway, so here’s three short tidbits for this Sunday’s Threesome…
My search for something different I can make for my after work meal last week had me searching through the freezer bunker looking for the “still needs to be cooked” chicken strips my Mom would get from Sam’s Club sometimes. While I failed to find an old favorite, I sure as hell managed to find a new one…
They were so fucking good, I bought another bag of them the next day… and then freaked out when its spot was empty when I went back to work this past weekend! Luckily, I was able to procure three more bags of the magical strips on Monday morning… by which time it finally hit me WHY I liked those strips so much.
They’re exactly the same kind of strips they used to sell at Burger King!!!!
Burger King flirted with selling chicken strips off and on last decade… I think the last time they offered them was sometime in mid-2019, yet for some reason refused to make them a permanent menu item. But those things (along with BK’s fries, which are among the best in the fast food industry) were absolutely delicious! And now, thanks to Mecca, I don’t have to overpay the King for chicken strips should they ever decide to bring them back again…
To show you how hard up I am for tidbits this week, here’s a fun calendar fact inspired by today’s date!
In any given year, April 4, June 6, August 8, October 10 and December 12 will all fall on the same day of the week. Yes, that’s 4/4, 6/6, 8/8, 10/10, and 12/12… and this year, those dates all fall on a Sunday.
But wait…. there’s more!
May 9, July 11, September 5 and November 7 also fall on that same day as the repeating even dates in a given year! That’s 5/9 & 9/5 and 7/11 & 11/7. All Sundays….
Aren’t you glad you know that now?
And speaking of 10/10, if memory serves me correctly, today is Draliman’s birthday. The Nest wishes a happy anniversary of birth to a fellow demented mind, and one of our most tenured and loyal readers…
Happy Birthday Draliman……….you’ll love those baby possums! Chicken strips? Never had ’em………I do fry chicken around here about once a month but if your chicken strips are THAT DANGED GOOD maybe I should try them. Save me a lot of grease and flour, etc. Thanks too for the interesting (cough) calendar facts – I fell asleep a couple of times during those sentences but I’m SURE I enjoyed reading them.
Pam
Well, my tastes are a bit peculiar… so I won’t be writing culinary advice columns anytime soon. But those strips are one of the few fried foods I don’t like BURNT, so that must cout for something!
Don’t eat bird..
It’s not my fault you’re all so yummy…
Dang, the possum is one NC’s state animals!
The possum should be the official animal of America!
Aww, possums!
Possums are awesome!
Whoa…fascinating info on the calendar dates. Never really thought about those kinds of convergences. Happy birthday to your blogging pal and may the chicken strips remain abundant.
I had to go through the calendar to double check that fact when I found it a while back. Seems too odd to be true…
Truly weird.
I was going to make a snarky comment about how enriched I feel with calendar trivia, but… wow! A whole “weekend threesome” section dedicated to me and my birthday! Yay, thanks!
And you even pulled out my “favourite” possum pic ahem…
I would have asked that Alyans fan to sing Happy Birthday to you, but long distance rates from Siberia are outrageous… so box full of possums it was!
My birthday is on August 18th. I am also a long time reader and um tenured. I request a shout out next year.
I’m just fucking with ya. Maybe.
You need to tell the calendar maker to put your birthday on a Sunday then! You did get a birthday shoutout in a comic once… that’s pretty fucking special!
Yeah you’re right! There’s also that cartoon of me that you drew slapping the shit out of you. I’m getting pretty old, my memory is going on me…plus it’s full of bong resin.
Happy birthday, Ali!!
Thanks, Mer!
