Just a squirrel I spotted in my neighbor’s tree yesterday on a cool, cloudy, misty autumn day shielding himself from the dampness with his tail… and barking his fool head off as he typically does from his perch every afternoon. Perhaps he’ll stick around to haunt the neighborhood on Halloween evening tomorrow? This week’s Saturday Squirrel could use a set of glowing eyes…
Have a great weekend everyone!
Those tail umbrellas work for rain but do little to protect squirrels from peepers with cameras!
Pam
I only came out with the camera because he was raising such a ruckus, so he has nobody to blame but himself for the free publicity!
We must have a strange breed of silent squirrel, they never bark.
I’m surprised with all the wildlife you have. Most of the time I hear one going off, I can spot the cat prowling about within 10 seconds. This guy, however, seems to let loose for no reason but to hear his own voice…
We have very silent squirrels. Maybe word has gotten out and they don’t want to wake Dudley.
😉
I was barked at constantly by our squirrels when I was outside at our former home. After all those years, they still thought we were invading their territory. They got better when I left them acorns.
This guy just seems to have a general grievance with everything. Twice this week I came back from my walk to hear him as soon as I turned onto my street… and my street’s pretty empty at that time!
With his tail positioned like that, it would appear he has a full body mohawk!
Yep, somewhere in my vast SS collection I have a squirrel whose tail is tight over his back AND head, so it really does look like a full mohawk…
He’s waiting for you to walk under him so he can bomb you. He’s a wannabe bird.
A squirrel has never pooped on me in my life, unlike my fine feathered fiends…
Beautiful photo. Cuteness abounds.
Squirrels bark?? The holes in my education…. 🥺
That’s the term I always hear for their yammering. It’s more like a squawking, and those who are unaware squirrels make noise will often assume it’s a bird…
That’s a great shot!
Squirrel gargoyles are perfect for warding off the yard ghouls–their bark scares them away!
It’s always amusing to see a cat’s reaction to the squirrel alarm… they generally think the squirrel is nuts. And they might be right…
Looks to me like he’s entered Attack Mode…
I know a few neighbor kids he can attack…
