Half Pint

What did you call me?

My backyard’s got another little guy in it.  This one isn’t quite as young as the baby that wowwed you all last year… probably because it’s three weeks later in the year.  But along with his diminutive size, it was impossible not to notice how long it took him to nibble on just one piece of the corn I’d put out…

Nibble, nibble, nibble…

A normal squirrel can make quick work of getting to the germ of the corn in well under a minute.  But I patiently waited several minutes for our small guest here to finish that one tidbit and change poses…

Don’t rush me!

Alright, alright.  I’d hate for you to choke on your dinner just for my sake.  Take your time…

OK, I’m ready!

Great!  Now give me a majestic pose worthy of a junior Saturday Squirrel…..

How’s this?

Perfect!  An exquisite profile and a lovely curve of the tail…

Have a great weekend everyone!

Some meals must be slowly savored. And he’s a cutie!

This is a gorgeous little squirrel. I hope he/she makes it through the winter! I’ll bet his teeth and jaws are very small yet. Hence seeming to savor the corn. I’m glad you are feeding him!

  6. Aww, the little guy worked for his food, lol.

That corn certainly gave him the strength to strike quite a pose!

  8. They are insanely cute as babies. I was surprised at how quickly they start to breed, too. We have some red squirrels who are really tiny, but they are obviously already producing babies. We had many babies this year. They are so perfect — even when they are tiny — it’s hard to tell how small they are without something with which to compare them.

    What is for dessert?

  10. How cute are these photos! Thank you! 🙂

  11. A new baby, eh? Well there goes the neighborhood! 🐿
