This week’s featured Shelf critter is The Nest’s favorite East Asian butcher Hung Lo, owner of the world’s worst Chinese buffet. SCT’s self-professed generic Asian stereotype, Hung Lo’s corny (and awful) sense of humor will help put you at ease while he kidnaps your beloved pet to add to the next batch of dragon balls.
Hung Lo is a golden Buddha figurine that operates as a piggy bank (He even has a slot in his back, never shown before on SCT)! I bought him from Mecca four years ago just before I started Season Two of Shelf Critter Theatre when he made his debut. Sadly, rubbing this Buddha does not bring you money as the world famous Buddha that was sold in fine scandal sheets across the world back in my day.
A Share Your World question themed around Hung Lo….
No…. not that lousy joke again! Let’s try this….
If you were to open the world’s most accurate fortune cookie, what would your fortune inside it read?
And now let’s kick off our milestone 150th answer post for Melanie’s Share Your World questions!
In your opinion, what should be humanity’s goal?
Living our lives. Sorry, I’m not one of those people who believe we have some higher purpose or any crazy jazz like that…
Are you hesitant to speak your opinions?
Yes, because humans are a judgmental species and I don’t feel a need (or desire) to defend what I believe in…. which I would have to do quite often if I frequently spoke my opinions knowing how contrary I run to popular opinion.
In what ways has society changed during your lifetime? What do you think caused these changes?
We traded a lot of old barriers, hang ups and taboos for a different collection of barriers, hang ups and taboos. Whether the current set is better than the former set depends on where your buns are buttered. What caused these changes? I don’t know….. David Bowie?
If you had a friend who spoke to you in the same way that you sometimes speak to yourself, how long would you allow this person to be your friend?
I speak to myself a lot, but I don’t know that I’m really directing my talking to myself… more just thinking out loud or stewing on things I want to say. I call myself a dumbass a lot when I do something stupid, and if someone else called me a dumbass I’d probably laugh because it’s true. Of course, I don’t have any real friends, which is why I spend so much time talking to myself in the first place…
Please feel free to share your moments of gratitude here.
As much as I enjoy being alone and talking to myself, I’m still happy I’m not stranded on a desert island…
