The Squirrels Of 2020

The special day that The Nest turned ten years old may have passed, but our big celebration isn’t even halfway over yet!  We continue to reel in the years with the best of the best of the best of my squirrel photography over the past decade.  These squirrels are going to be so last year…

2020 was the year we counted down the final few songs of my Countdown of Whatever.  It was the year I featured expanded portfolios of some of my earlier squirrel photo expeditions to the local park.  It was the year the Shelf’s Santa granted wishes like an evil genie for The Nest’s Advent calendar.  And it was the year life imitated art following my Murphy’s Law theme for the Contest of Whatever…

2020 also featured one of my favorite squirrels ever, who you’ll see once we look at all of the other great squirrels from last year…

No, we don’t want to kiss that…

Way to stick your head out there!

BOING!

You never know what you’ll find in my weeds…

Here’s a good spot to much on nuts while watching people play tennis…

Or you can pull up a tipped over bench…

His tree may be small now, but before long he’ll have a nest in the penthouse!

I’ll bet there’s some good stuff in this gutter!

Lookie what I found!

I’ll clean this gutter one nut at a time!

It looks like our one-eared squirrel from 2019 was still around a year later!

This squirrel takes offense to my intrusion…

While this squirrel doesn’t quite know what to make of me…

Squirrel handstand!

Greeeeeeeen acorns is the place for me…

I brought one for you too!

He’s hopping towards us!

Must tread through the minefield carefully….

You got a problem with me up here chewing your wires?

The cutest little defender of the weeds!

This squirrel must be reacting to my favorite squirrel of 2020 (And one of my favorites ever)……………………

BABY SQUIRREL!!!!!!!

So cute and tiny!!!

I’m not even sure he was old enough to really be out of the nest….

That’s a BIG meal for a small squirrel….

Better start off with a small portion.  Look how big those acorns are compared to this little guy!!!

It’s really sad that I never saw him again after this one sighting…. but at least I got a lot of great pictures of him to keep his pioneering spirit alive forever!

Come back next Tuesday for the best squirrel photos of this very year right now!!!

  1. The baby is adorable…..love his little feet (big feet?) in the second to last photo. I’d like to think he just was busy learning baby squirrel stuff and that was why you didn’t ever see him again……so darn cute.

Wow, lots of good shots here, hard to pick a favorite but I’m partial to the final squirrel on gutter.
    😉

  3. Willow Croft says:

The squirrel that comes to visit every day is a reddish orange colour…the colour of fall leaves!

  4. Baby Squirrel gets my vote for most precious squirrel too. That first squirrel might have been having a quick tongue bath, or he was trying to see if his head would fit…no. Never mind. LOL Happy New Year!

  5. Yup, baby squirrel! Maybe you didn’t recognise him again because he had put on a lot of weight!

  6. Kismet says:

2020? I try to avoid that year.

  7. draliman says:

Yay, baby squirrel! 2020 – the year squirrels and other wildlife ran amok during lockdowns when nobody was allowed outside.

  8. noelleg44 says:

The babies are adorable. I hope they survived.

  9. Between the squirrels and COMCAST…I often wonder whose the bigger cable destroyer?

  10. Juliette says:

Awwwww they’re so cute, especially the second one. What a sweet little squirrel face.
