For our final SYW critter profile, we’ll feature the (cough, hack) brains behind the whole operation, Mr. Evil Squirrel. ES actually wasn’t seen at all in early SCT skits, not finally appearing until Episode 20, and it’s only been in the last couple of years that The Nest’s CEO has gotten regular face time on his own blog. Much of that has to do with the fact that he’s the flip side of the Buster doll that is much more wildly popular due to his chronic deaths making it impossible for the two to share a skit. But thanks to our high budget special effects technology at The Nest, the two did appear on the same stage once…

Like many other squirrels of great power, ES rules over his peasants with an iron paw, forcing the other critters to work on SCT for little or no compensation and threatening to donate any troublemakers to Goodwill. ES’s constant meddling with DJ Scratchy’s Monday muzak feature has shown there is at least one critter who can get away with sassing the boss…

Thanks to gaining Fridays off with my new schedule back in March, I do know I won’t be at Mecca this year. After thinking I was going to get shafted by leap year, I’ll get two straight New Years Eve nights off anyway!
Is there a tradition you have for New Year’s Eve?
I miss the good old days when the radio stations used to count down the best songs of the year on NYE. That was one of my old favorite traditions. Going back to at least 1983, from which point I can account for every December 31st since then, I’ve always been awake at midnight…. whether at home or work (and I don’t think they’d let me sleep at work).
You won’t sleep so soundly once the war zone starts up outside…

Dropping Buster on his head in the middle of Times Square would be one of the greatest moments in television… and it would have to lead to the best year ever!

Now because I’m a bit dim from time to time, is this actually your LAST (no more in the coming years) question from the Nest? Or just for this year? Blame the bubbly for my state of mind.. 😉 Good for you for getting some rest on NYE, instead of being at work, possibly contracting something because of the on-slaught of Mecca patrons who simply must go shopping ten minutes after midnight, tomorrow night! (I understand you don’t work WITH the public directly, but don’t those drunken slobs wandering up and down the aisles TOUCH a lot of stuff? ) Stay safe in the New Year and may it be a real happy one! My alter ego would be Superbird. Able to leap tall buildngs in a single bound. I have an advantage-I can do that already.
