I took this photo yesterday from my front door, no fooling! After a week where clouds and rain were the rule, it was nice to have a sunny day, even if it was quite chilly. But while the cold weather does often linger on into April, it doesn’t stop the inevitable march of Spring, which you can clearly see popping up all around this fuzzy little guy. Grass, or what amounts to grass in my yard, is beginning to sprout out of the ground all over…. giving me a painful reminder that I’m probably only a few weeks away from having to bring the mower out of hibernation.
I’d much settle for my yard merely sprouting more cute Saturday Squirrels like our April friend here. He even looks like he’s trying to grow some of those adorable ear tufts!
Have a great weekend everyone!
A picture perfect squirrel portrait.
👍
I agree, and I didn’t realize how well the sprouting greenery complimented the picture until I was looking for an angle to write about it…
He’s a cutie and I don’t see an ear-notch……looks like he’s in a rather hopeful position there – thinking maybe the guy with the camera might throw him a peanut???
Pam
He may think that, but as soon as I open the screen door they bolt for the trees! I had to take that one through glass…
He sure is cute! Sitting there, among the sprouts, perhaps wondering if they’d make a tasty salad or not… 😆
Well, they’ll probably put hair on his chest. I’m no longer in the part of town that was getting dug up thirty years ago for lead contamination, so they might not even kill him…
He’s so cute! I love that pose with the paws together like they’re in a…hmmm. I can’t think of the word. Those old fashioned furry tubes people used to put their hands in?
I don’t know what they’re called either, but quarterbacks use them in cold weather games. I think that’s the only place I’ve seen them…
Now whenever I see a squirrel sitting like that, I’m going to imagine it wearing a football helmet with its hands in one of those things, whatever the hell they’re called.
Great photo, and you don’t have any snow, so that’s great, too. 🙂
It’s almost cold enough for snow, but snow in April is literally a once in a decade thing here. A snow shower would be a nice alternative to all the rain we’ve had, though…
Just make sure you check for squirrels before you start mowing.
Just my presence would keep them away. They hate me despite all the food I give them. I did once run over a rabbit hole and had the crap scared out of me as live bunnies ran out from under where I’d just mowed!
What a fantastic photo–like something out of Beatrix Potter. All he needs is a little waistcoat:-)
Our squirrels are tough, he’d want a baseball cap and a leather jacket…
Aww, he looks pretty innocent (yet we all know better, don’t we). 🐿
Define “we”…. the jury completely buys this guy’s innocence.
Ha! I’m guessing you probably wouldn’t want Norman, Elsa and I on your jury. 😈
