Share Your World – Week 180

19th Century thrill seekers.

It was a glorious day on June 16, 1884 when Coney Island officially opened the Switchback Railway, and amusement parks would never be the same again.  The Switchback was the very first roller coaster ever, though you’d barely recognize it given the modern fear machines roller coasters have evolved into.  The Switchback Railway’s track was a 600 foot straight line that contained a few minor ups and downs.  Passengers paid a nickel each to sit on a bench facing sideways as they were pushed down the track at a top speed of SIX miles per hour!  Why, that’s enough to blow the derby right off your noggin!

Don’t forget to buckle your safety belts!

And now, please keep all arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times while The Nest answers Melanie’s Share Your World questions for this week!

Sorry girl, you must be at least “this” tall to ride this attraction…

What is one topic you really like to talk about? Or something you really want to tell people?

I’m not much of a talker, so I’m going to defer this question to someone who can actually answer it….

MR. FOX: …………………………………………..

MR. FOX: …………………………………………….

MR. FOX: ………………………………………………

MR. FOX: ……………………………………….

Oh my God, would you please just stop talking…..

MR. FOX: …………………………………………..

See what I mean?  He just goes on and on about that subject, and once I’ve got him going, I’ll never get that fox to shut his yap!

What do you normally never tell strangers about yourself?

That I have conversations with mute foxes….

MR. FOX: …………………………………..

ARGH!  Where did I put that duct tape?

Have you ever broken anything?

Maybe….

Oh well, at least Buster was already damaged…

MR. FOX: …………………………………….

I did NOT ask you to chime in!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is having a big ego a negative trait or positive trait?

There’s nothing wrong with thinking highly of yourself, so long as you also have a healthy dose of self depreciation as well….

SHADOW: And just what exactly is wrong with having a huge ego when you are the most intelligent being in the universe?  Every pathetic critter out there should strive to be as magnificent as Shadow the Umbreon!  Impossible as that may be…..

Actually, Shadow, I think I know someone who has an even bigger ego than you do….

MR. FOX: ………………………………………

I swear, he’s like the Energizer Bunny…..

What aspects of your city or neighborhood are you grateful for?

The squirrels.  We have some real characters here who provide me with something interesting to share every Saturday….

If the comic looks discolored, just click on it.  I don’t know why some of my older uploads got that icky look to their thumbnails recently…

MR. FOX: ……………………………………

Oh, who asked you!?!?!?!?

  2. Yay Mr. Fox…keeping everything real. 😉

  3. The fox knows best……………!

    Pam

  4. Thank you Mr. Bill for Sharing Your World! That fox was unusually chatty today, must have drunk the water! 🤣 Here in the land of no water (well enough to keep the flies off I guess) my tap water tastes really strange (chemical), so I’ve begun to buy bottled. I HATE that concept and it bugs me greatly that plastics have struck a blow again for their reason for being, but the stuff in the bottle (which came out of someone’s tap, right?) just tastes cleaner. Sad. Thanks for a hilarious comic too, I always get a good laugh from the funnies you share! Thank you! Have a great week!

    • We get that funky chlorine taste every once in a while, especially if the river’s running low (not a problem this year)… but I drink it anyway. I’ll never buy bottled. Now if only I could get Pepsi from the tap…
