A Grizzly Encounter

Four legs good, two legs scary!

It’s always a joy for me when I can capture a squirrel in a standing position… it’s one of those squirrel poses that I don’t get often enough, but the results are usually pure gold when I do.  That fluffy, light colored underbelly that usually rides the ground is one of the sciurine features that doesn’t get enough credit for how adorable it renders the creatures.  I’ve gotten some happy, shocked, curious, and even some neutral reactions from squirrels in this upright stance.

But this guy….. he looks a tad pissed.  And with those dangerous looking claws we talked about a few posts ago that he’s menacingly flaunting in front of him, he reminds me of a bear about to go on the attack!  Calm down, fellow, I’m no threat to you…. or your pick-a-nick baskets full of honey-covered acorns you’re preparing to raid!

If you don’t mind, I’ll just wait over here behind the bushes while this week’s Saturday Ursine… er, Squirrel goes on the rampage.

Have a great weekend everyone!

That’s one serious looking squirrel. Usually they look like goofballs.

  2. Perhaps he’s upset because you interrupted him on his way to visit his manicurist for a trim?

  3. You have to keep an eye on those attack squirrels every second.

When I fly over that guy, I won’t bomb him with a turd.

Aww – you’re oohing and aahing at him right up to the point where he races forward and claws your face off…

If you play dead, he might leave you alone!

  8. Nice quads there on the little fella, even as he looks quite pixxed. He needs to relax and flex more.
