Going Green

Mmmmm! Chlorophyll!

I got so distracted by the pics I took with my new feeder and the pumpkin in my backyard, that I have an entire set of park photos from late October that I have completely ignored so far for Saturday Squirrel!  This is good since I haven’t had the chance to add fresh pics to my collection in a while, so let’s see what this little guy is up to….

He seems to be eying those big plants along a walkway at the park entrance.  Not sure what he’s going to do since they appear to be too small to climb and build a nest in, and they certainly don’t appear to be appetizing…

Or maybe I just don’t have a squirrel’s taste?

I do hope my tax dollars aren’t being chewed up by this little forager!

Tastes like…….. green.

Well, he seems to be enjoying whatever those plants are…

Or not. He looks a little squeamish.

And I love how there’s a lone spiky sweet gum ball on the sidewalk.  I can’t seem to avoid them in my photos lately!

Don’t eat the plants and have a great weekend everyone!

  1. He’s a fan of the all you can eat salad bar…….I’m not sure but if those are “canna” plants they may have given him an upset tummy – they are poisonous to some animals like horses for instance but not humans. Couldn’t find a reference to squirrels but they are pretty hardy little critters – I’m just sorry there wasn’t a little restaurant sized packet of salad dressing laying there so he could really enjoy his salad!

    • Thank you for identifying the plant! Hopefully those nibbles didn’t make him sick, but given that I’ve caught the park squirrels eating cheese, steak and pizza already, I think they’re probably hardy enough to withstand some icky plants…

    Even squirrels need their greens.
    👍

  3. luckily it’s not barefoot weather so you don’t have to worry (too much) about those spiky balls. Have a swell weekend.

Awwwww what a cutie. All of that good eating makes his fur so fluffy and pretty. Who needs fancy salons when you can just hang out in the back yard.

  5. Trisha says:

I think they will gnaw on just about anything at least once!

Maybe he’s scoping it out as a potential new playground for his little ones. Though they do look green and luscious and surely good enough to eat…
