Once upon a time, humans lived off the land just like wild animals do. We ate nuts and berries, and if we were really hungry, we hunted down a woolly mammoth to roast over the fire. People, even just a few hundred years ago, didn’t eat potato chips or hot dogs or
chili chileh because that stuff didn’t exist. But if you went back in time and treated Julius Caesar to a bag of Cheetos, no doubt he’d have had orange-stained fingers as he was being stabbed to death by Brutus for not sharing his treats.
While it’s no longer strange to see humans eating junk food, it is still funny to see animals partaking in this dreaded “people food.” But just like humans sealed their fates by becoming hopelessly (and helplessly) addicted to unhealthy food, most animals can’t resist the temptation of salty, greasy goodness when they find our discarded culinary treasures. Let’s face it, the worse something is for your body, the better it tastes, and that truism seems to apply to a wide variety of the earth’s fauna.
