The Lookout

Ten o’clock, and all’s well!!!

Perched high above the ground in the tallest tree stands the guard squirrel, always keeping a sharp lookout for any dangers that might threaten the nest.  Whether trouble may come from the ground in the form of a prowling cat, or an air raid by the local hawk… our lone guardian is ready to sound the alarm to keep his furry friends safe from any intruders, even at the risk of his own peril.

Innocent sciurine citizens everywhere can rest a bit easier at night knowing that this week’s Saturday Squirrel is seeing to it that the tree remains free of any clear and present danger.  No suspicious activity will be missed by this watchman….

HALT!!!!!!! Who goes there!?!?

Uh oh…. I better get along now!

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. I love the variety of “warning sirens” squirrels come up with to alert their fellow squirrels that there is an intruder out and about. It’s almost like they each have a “signature” warning signal.

We birds have a method also but if I told you what it is, we’d have to change it.

And that alarm can be really noisy!

Camera-boy, 10 o’clock high, scamper and hide, repeat scamper and hide!

I love the sweet little face in that first picture! You’d never guess he was a highly trained spy!

  7. He looks like quite the tree security guard!

  8. You sure he isn’t looking for yet one more way to grab some seeds? Or maybe he’s a multi tasker and doing both?
