One very underrated feature of squirrels is how expressive their faces can be. Sometimes very ordinary shots of a squirrel can turn into pure gold just based on a purely bizarre reaction to something in its environment or even the photographer that’s unable to keep from intruding on their daily routine.
I’ve got many pictures of squirrels with that inquisitive look on their face when they spot me. While squirrels are wary of humans as they aren’t sure if our attention to them is simply casual observance or predatory in nature… they also seem to find us to be rather peculiar creatures ourselves.
But what happens when the cameraman takes a squirrel by surprise? Like, say, that squirrel you see in the photo up above I took back in 2019….
Best squirrel reaction ever! And well worthy of the #28 spot on my Saturday Squirrel countdown! I hope to elicit more reactions from you, the viewers, as this series continues next Tuesday….

He looks very interested in the photographer snapping his photo – and I have always loved how squirrels do their little paws in front like they’re “wringing their hands” !
Pam
That’s the only way they can hold on to things. But it does give them that evil genius look…
He’s fixing your face into his memory so he can describe you to the squirrel cops later on…
That’s enough to give a poor squirrel nightmares…
With a pinch of luck, you interrupted a squirrel felony leaving the park just a smidge safer that day.
