Well, that isn’t true right now…. this photo is from January, and the only thing outside is all the rain we got the past two days. But this little half-assed snowcover we got earlier in the year makes for a nice backdrop to this squirrel sitting on top of a drainage pipe. Once he steps off into the yard, one false step into the white areas could lead to instant death!!!! Or maybe just cold feet….. but would you want to take that chance!?!?
We wish this week’s Saturday Squirrel godspeed on his dangerous trek through the almost winter wonderland…
Have a great weekend everyone!
Can’t blame a guy for standing on the pipe so he doesn’t have to get cold feet! Sooner or later he will have to take a chance though……maybe a fast scamper to the nearest tree. Looks like he’s trying to make up his mind!
Pam
If he runs fast enough, the heat generated will melt the snow! And I know those little guys can burn rubber….
Nice shot. Any perch will do…
Probably would prefer a heated perch, but it’s not that ritzy a neighborhood…
Your squirrel looks plump enough to handle anything!
They should be with all the food put out!
Ours are plump, too. Cheeky things!
Don’t cry for him (only for Argentina), he’s likely far more sure footed than any of us on the white stuff.
Only with his little snowshoes…
tiptoe carefully
Good advice!
He’ll never get across there with unfrozen paws. He needs to hit the treetops.
I don’t know if the ski lift runs in this area…
Our poor little fellas have to scamper through 16 inches of snow right now! We also have a resident chipmunk who managed to tunnel his way out, then sat on top of the snow for over 10 minutes, just shocked!
Our squirrels would die if we ever got that much snow, which we don’t. In fact, this winter’s been almost snowless other than a couple light dustings and one two-incher. Of course, March can always hammer us and it’s supposed to be colder than normal the next few weeks….
Ours are pretty used to it, unfortunately!
