#19 – The Short Branch

Much like children and cats like to find little out of the way places to hang out that would normally be inaccessible to others, so do squirrels tend to seek out exotic hiding places to claim as their personal space.

This squirrel at the park couldn’t resist this small stub of a branch, a likely remnant of some trimming that took place many years ago, to use as his perch for the moment.  The short stump was almost tailor made for a single squirrel to use for surveying their territory from on high.  Or, if you’re so inclined, giving the middle digit to a barking dog down below.

The first photo is nice, no question about it.  But it was the second photo of this guy I got after he noticed he was being watched that catapulted this squirrel on the short branch up to the #19 spot on my All Time Favorite Saturday Squirrels countdown….

Are you looking at ME???

Awwwwwwww!!!!  One of my favorite squirrel reactions I’ve caught on camera!

And no, we won’t mention that it looks like he literally has a massive case of morning wood….. that would be nuts.

Even his little out-of-the-way branch is not safe from the phantom photographer…

  6. Yet another humiliation for the dog(s) below. Sigh. We find justice is a karma thing…you just never know when the Hounds of the Baskerville will show up on your tree-step.

  7. You’re obviously not all that familiar with the legal system these days. 😇
