About The Nest

Ooooh! We're online now!

Ooooh! We’re online now!

Evil Squirrel’s Nest is a blog dedicated to my cute little critter creations, Evil Squirrel and his buddies.  ES was created by me, Bill Brown… overnight stocker by night, drawer of wacked out cuteness by day.

This blog started out was back on Christmas Eve 2011 as a way for me to promote the products featuring my artwork that I sell in my Cafepress store, but it’s become far, far more than that.  I draw a weekly comic, post squirrel pictures, wax nostalgic about the good old days, and all kinds of other quirky, fun stuff in features you can find by exploring the many links in my header.

Do what Hottie says!

The fun never ends at The Nest!

I am an overly cynical, staunch realist who cares nothing for idealism… and I loathe politics from both side of the aisle.  I an assure you that you will never be assaulted by any serious opinions during your stay at The Nest.  You will find a lot of irreverent content here, heavily tinged with my bizarre sense of humor, biting sarcasm, and quirky mouse-drawn digital artwork.  If I have given you a laugh or ten to help you get through your day, I have more than done my job and justified the time I’ve put into these posts.

Look what I caught!

If you are visiting The Nest because I liked and/or commented on one of your posts, welcome to my little world!  I do random daily searches for “squirrel” on WordPress, and read the most recent posts containing that word.  Even if it has nothing to do with squirrels, I will still hit Like if I enjoy it!  It’s interesting to see the variety of blogs and bloggers there are out there on the internets!

I hope you enjoy my blog, and if you like what you see, please follow me and I promise to continue providing content of questionable quality for your perusal in the future!

Note:  Though I no longer accept blogging awards, I feel like I must still acknowledge those I did take in back in my earlier days.  The badges appear below…

  1. Well, I know I had the word ‘squirrel’ in my post at least once. There have been a few more as my war with them and their rapacious ways is ongoing!

    • Thanks for visiting, and for teaching me a new word! I must use rapacious more often in my blog, it is perfect for our fine, fuzzy friends! Good luck in your battles, even if I might be rooting for the enemy 😉

  2. Nothing wrong with squirrels – just ask Squirrell Nutkin, Why do people battle with furry bodies squirrelling away their winter supplies . A squirrel’s got to eat for Pete’s sake !

  3. Laird Will says:

Love it! And thanks for visiting me!

  4. Hilarious! Thanks for following me!

  5. Joy Clough says:

Had to think a bit before remembering my latest post said “we scattered like squirrels” in reference to how we used to be a flurry of activity “uptah camp” between May and September. Now we are here year-round, living with the squirrels!! Red ones, who yell at us like trespassers in our own yard. (I do write about those, real squirrels, too…hope you enjoy those posts as well. Thanks for reading!

  6. reneetamara says:

Little did I realize what I would conjure when I wrote about my thoughts on squirrels as I was deeply contemplating the meaning of life. Thanks for the levity and thanks for liking my post. I have great respect for comic strip artists (one of my husband’s mediums also) and will enjoy exploring the nest.
    All the best!

  7. Interesting to find out ways that random people come across my blog. Who would have thought that a throw-away line about “mentally deficient squirrels” would do the trick? Glad it did though! Your squirrel related posts could fill the “furry animal comic” void left behind when the Achewood guy stopped posting stuff (with anything resembling regularity).

    • Thanks for stopping by! I am very much intrigued by the search terms people use that get them to my blog as well, and I am planning a year end countdown on some of my favorites. It’s only a myth that everyone finds their way here do to searching for Spongebob and Sandy porn (which to their disappointment, they will not find)….

  8. Well, a casual mention of a squirrel has led me here! I like (a) your blog, and (b) your philosophy re: squirrel mentions. I’ll be back!

  9. Evil Squirrel! I actually thought you were a guy I know (who raises squirrels). I’m pleasantly surprised to find you here bringing them to life! Thanks for coming into my consciousness 🙂

  10. Aimee says:

Thank you for searching on “squirrel” and liking my Samhain post! It got me to come here and read your blog! 🙂

  11. mskatykins says:

Ha ha ha, so funny! One of next weeks Spineless Wonders features a squirrel! 🙂

  12. My short suppose to be Wordless Wednesday post had 4 of the s word that you google and so you clicking like on yesterday’s post led me straight to you. I like it here.. 🙂 I think I will look around!

  13. MinkaM says:

What a great blog! Who would have thought that a post about squirrels would have led me here. You’re quite talented, and I’ve enjoyed reading through your work. Thanks!

  14. reggiebecker says:

Hi evilsquirrel13. Thank you for visiting mylifeasasquirrel and liking it. I have heard of evil squirrel before and though I had many squirrels in my life, none was evil… lol! To say I love squirrels in an understatement… I will be checking on your characters and stories too. Thank you again!

  15. katese11 says:

Glad you enjoyed my post. You would have liked my son’s lullaby for squirrels…

  16. Squirrel Business says:

Thanks for liking at my blog, ES. I can’t believe I haven’t found yours earlier. Great work 🙂 Squirrels rock!

  17. Ellen says:

I like your work, fun that you found my evil squirrel

  18. I am in awe of squirrels’ intelligence. they never give up when trying to solve a problem; and the problem is always how to get more food!

You may have missed a post I wrote a long time ago called “My Squirrel is Smarter than Yours.”
    It’s on my blog.

  19. leftyandrighty says:

If Saturday never comes……. good job!

  20. bobmielke says:

You guessed it. I found you through the like you put on my blog. I’ve only been blogging since August 2012 so using that method of checking out other folk’s blogs I’ve slowly grown my list of favorites. I’m a photography fanatic and have been for more than 40 years. Now retired I’ve found blogging on WordPress, Tumblr & 500pix a better way to share my photos. I don’t sell them. I look forward to following your blog as it has a unique feel and great humor. As an art major in college I appreciate your artwork. Great idea! – Bob

  21. pishnguyen says:

Well considering we’ve been discussing the weather, and I’ve just discovered you majored in meteorology, how could I not give you the Sunshine Award? I mean, really! The details and rules are on my blog tomorrow.

  23. You burst my bubble. I thought that good fortune had brought you to my blog not a squirrel or rather the phonetic squirrel. Anyway, as we say resignedly in my country “everything for the good.”
    Love your blog.

  24. Who knew that finding a squirrel under my stove last night would lead me here? Love it!!!

  25. Julia says:

That sounds fun to search a particular word. I admire your dedication. Lol. I know exactly where squirrel featured on the post of mine you liked even though I did have to think for a few moments to remember.

    • It’s interesting what turns up… I’ve found all sorts of blogs just by searching for “squirrel”! Most of my small but loyal group of true followers came to this blog the same way, and it’s a pretty diverse group! I liked your header with all the hamsters! Thanks for visiting The Nest!

  26. Hi there – I came to your blog by way of Press “M” for Menopause and I’m really glad I did! You’ve got some great stuff here. I’m looking forward to working my way around the nest 🙂

  27. Found your site through “Press M for Menopause.” Cute patootie cartoons.

  28. I’m so glad you stopped by my blog so I could discover yours! Yay squirrels!

  31. YogaCat says:

Hey there – thanks for visiting my blog 🙂 I’ve just finished a 6 week vacation in the US. During that time I visited four National Parks and had hoped to see a whole bunch of wild life (eg bears, big cats, etc) – none of which I saw in the flesh on this occasion. BUT, I did see a heck of a lot of squirrels (which I LOVED) – including an albino squirrel in Washington DC. Anyways – thanks for liking my blog. I’ll be back from time to time to see what’s happening in your part of the blogosphere 🙂

    • Cool! I have yet to see an albino squirrel, but hope to someday. We definitely have a large and visible sciurine population here in the States! Thanks for stopping by The Nest!

  32. daylerogers says:

Your fascination with all things squirrel not only makes me smile but offers a little look into you. Thanks for liking my blog. But even more for your creative honesty.

    • Thank you for returning the visit and for your kind words! I have long championed the notion that squirrels can teach us valuable life lessons, which made me like your post even more!

  33. “sciurine”… I love it when I get to learn a new word… Great blog, too. (PS: I mention flying squirrels in my post: A Liebster Award, for Me? if you want to take a look.) — Jadi

  34. Jennwith2ns says:

Thanks for the follow! I’m flattered. I hope the fact that we have a taxidermied squirrel under our TV doesn’t change things between us . . . (We have some live animals, too, but the squirrel ain’t one of ’em–anymore.)

  35. Thank you kindly for dropping by wePoets, it’s much appreciated. We’d be happy to showcase any of your art forms should you want to share. If so, our submission and theme pages explain everything. 🙂

  36. atkokosplace says:

Nice to meet you, Evil Squirrel.
For exciting news on Ninja Squirrels (the jury is still out on whether they are evil or not), check out azznyro at awindowintothewoods.com if you haven’t met her yet.

    • Ninja squirrels must be a thing, because two other bloggers who used to be active were obsessed with them too! I shall make a mental note to check her out (The same way I made a mental note to check your blog out after TD featured you a couple months ago, and prompty forgot…. d’oh!)

Out Run was my all time favorite arcade game… and there it is! Thanks for showing this to me!

I am leaving you a comment here because that is what I do when I take a close look at a blog for the first time. Just spent 20 minutes enjoying your blog on account of you answered a comment I left for you on my friend Nerd’s blog in just the right way 🙂

Your copyright notice reads like a creative commons no-derivatives share-and-share alike license. That is how I license the things I post on my personal blog.

Also, I have been following for quite some time that does similar things and you might like it. Lots of characters, and funny, sometimes bizarro stuff that makes people laugh. Not like you at all, content-wise, but a similar approach to humor, I think. And voice parodies. They have a youtube channel just for voice parodies. Not someone I am affiliated with or talk to very much, just a blog I enjoy. Happy to drop you a link if you would like to check it out.

So, this is your first encounter with Planet Gene’O. I frequent at least two of the blogs that you seem to frequent, and truly. Glad you enjoyed that comment I left you on Nerd’s thread. If you have other social media that you just don’t link to the blog for whatever reason, I will be happy to follow it 😉 If not, I am happy to meet you on WordPress!

    • Gene'O says:

“Also, there is a blog I have been following for quite some time” is how that first sentence of the third paragraph should have read. I do not generally correct typos, but that omission makes the comment confusing.

  55. Oh my goodness, thank you for making me smile this morning. It’s been fun reading through your posts and trying to figure it all out…certainly better than being in my own mind! Now I’m thinking about squirrels and it’s all good. We actually live in a rural community and there’s a woman who dresses up in caumo and hunts on our property for squirrels and says it a delicacy and quite honestly I just think ewwwwww

    • Aw, I’m glad you enjoyed checking out my stuff! I hear squirrels are an acquired taste… though it seems to be more of a country/redneck thing. Some people see cute, and some people see dinner…. sigh!

  58. Had to share this with you: Drunk Squirrel destroys bar in England. http://www.eater.com/2015/7/17/8995495/drunk-squirrel-wreaks-havoc-bar-england 🙂 You might need to do an investigatory series on the darker side of sciurine partying.

    • It’s funny, because I saw that story as a related headline on the “stalker squirrel” article last week, and now you’re the second blogger to bring it to my attention! I will definitely do a write up on it at some point… just as soon as I make sure that guy is signed up for Squirrels Anonymous.

Hi. Found your blog in comments of another blogger that I follow. I’m always up for a good bit of fun and sarcasm. I’ll be hoping to find that in squirrel posts 🙂

  64. Dude, you have one of the most creative blogs on WordPress.

  65. Osyth says:

Salut! I came over from Kerry’s blog – she knows I can’t resist a squirrel or any other sort of creature or critter as you on the other side of the Atlantic would say. I’m happy I came and this will not be my last visit … you strike chords I’d forgotten I had 🙂

  66. joem18b says:

i have yet to find a person who has seen/noticed squirrel scat in their neighborhood or anywhere else. Just one of the things I ask at cocktail parties.

Finally, after years of this, I googled the question and checked out the images that came up. Don’t know what I expected to see.

    Cheers.

  67. Kismet says:
