I don’t know about you, but after all the holiday food and leftovers, I’m feeling pretty full. I just finished off the last of the leftover turkey for an after work meal this morning, and I hate to think how many pounds I’ve already added to my medically overweight frame over
the last couple days.
My squirrels can relate. Besides the fact that they enjoy being photographed for my blog, another of the reasons my backyard is often teeming with my furry little buddies is that they know they will get fed very well here. My huge oak tree provides a limitless bounty of acorns every Fall, and on top of that, I provide an ear or two of hard corn on the cob a week and occasionally scatter my unwanted shelled peanuts about for their enjoyment. Yes, I run a sciurine all you can eat buffet.
Squirrels do like to stash food they find underground for future consumption during the cold days of winter, but the fuzzy nuteaters are also notorious for stuffing their gullets with as much as they can fit in there. Above we see one of my squirrels who has apparently eaten a bit too much. Not only does he appear to be a bit pleasingly plump, but he has that rueful “I can’t believe I ate the whole thing” look on his face. Poor thing… he could use some Alka Seltzer.
For now, this chubby little fuzzy cherub will just have to settle for being the Thanksgiving weekend Saturday Squirrel! That should be enough to help him forget that nasty bout of indigestion…
Have a (burp) fun and fulfilling holiday weekend!

How funny! Our squirrels are huge too! We like to say that we run the Old Country Squirrel Buffet. I’ll try to get some pictures of the feeding frenzy for you. It’s always a riot.
Please do! I would love to see them!
I miss Old Country Buffet back when it was actually called Old Country Buffet and the food and prices were better!
I’ll take one of those Alka Seltzers please.
Plop, plop, fizz, fizz!
I hope squirrels don’t react to alka seltzer like seagulls do
