Boy, work last night really sucked. Granted, I get a lot of those kind of nights around this time of the year given that I work in retail, but last night seemed extra especially crummy. I think I was able to make it through with my sanity knowing I had only three
more nights to go before I got a welcome 10 day staycation away from the hustle and bustle of the Mecca scene…
Squirrels can have bad days as well. There are days when they wake up on the wrong side of the nest, and no matter how hard they try, they just can’t find the nut they were seeking. Maybe they get chased by a dog or scooped up by a hawk. All living creatures, no matter how carefree or happy they may be, are going to have their downer days. The poor guy in the picture above looked like he was having just as shitty a day as I had been having, so to make him feel a little better, I hereby dub him this week’s Saturday Squirrel! That should make him a bit more bright eyed and bushy tailed tomorrow, despite the fact that he won’t have a week and a half off from his nature appointed duties as a squirrel to look forward to….
Have a great weekend…. and if you don’t, well, squirrels in misery love company!

Wow, I never thought my favorite squirrel eveh got a case of the blues…buck up, buttercup! It’s always darkest before dawn!
Oh, I most definitely get down in the dumps… I’m just a good recoverer. I had actually gotten over my issues I had the first half of the night before I left, until the store manager got under my skin before I left. A good day’s sleep will cure these ills…
I find this mantra helps – “I will take no prisoners, I do not look good in prison orange, I will take no prisoners…” Hang in there.
I have to remember that every time I want to strangle someone. And that came up more than a few times last night….
Three more nights….. and I think they will all be better than last night!
one of your fluffy little friends just tried to join me on the porch while I was smoking
Awwww! I wish mine were more welcoming of me, but when I step outside, they take off and run! They only pose for me if I stay safely inside the house…
He only got as close as he did because he didn’t know I was there.
Hope the rest of your weekend is better. Boo to downer days, but how else would we know how to appreciate the good ones, hey? xxoo
That is true. Thank you!
Aww ! your squirrels are telepathic ..they are so empathetic to your plight
great picture again ! I always wonder how you manage these pictures
I always think of those people behind the counter and shelves working extended hours during festive times …we customers are so unmindful and unforgiving
yeah retail during end of year can be terrible
I get these pictures through brute force…. the handful of Saturday Squirrel pictures I show off come from literally thousands of pictures I have taken over the past year or so. Most aren’t even close to being worthy of preserving… and of those that I do, many of them never make it to my blog. I have about 120 or so more squirrel pics on my camera now I’ve taken over the past couple days that I’m going to upload and go through tomorrow morning… which will make me happy regardless of how my night goes tonight!
I hope the next three days go better. Any plans for your stay-cation, or just decompressing?
Decompressing… it’s the first time in five years I’ve taken one of my weeks off without it involving a trip somewhere. I will enjoy this very much!
Have a fabulous break!
I shall strive to… and since it’s a staycation, I will likely be more active on my blog (as well as keeping up on my reading of others) during that time!
Sorry that you are feeling down. Sometimes we all need a hug or a long cool glass of beer or curl up with a bag of nuts. Wishing you one or all of these and also a blessed Christmas.
I’m sorry you are tired and beat up from dealing with customers. (been there
)
I think as consumers that we often forget there is a real, breathing, human behind that ID badge. I believe in our mad rush we become myopic; we forget to thankful for your service rendered with a smile, and long hours served.
Enjoy your rest, do many fun things, and most importantly, have a Merry Christmas!
Thank you, and Merry Christmas to you Lynda! I plan to do a lot of unwinding this week!
