Bath And Breakfast

birdbath squirrel

I spent the better part of a week debating over what I’d do for the milestone 100th post on Evil Squirrel’s Nest.  I conjured up a bunch of different ways to pay tribute to what I’ve done over here, but in the end, I decided to just play it straight and let whatever happened to come next get the award.  So on the same day the Marlins Jose Reyes made Major League Baseball’s 500,000th error (not in one game, that would be a record — Kenny Mayne), I let the cute little guy above get the spotlight for the Nest’s 100th offering.

I bought a new bag of squirrel corn this morning, so I emptied out the last couple moth-eaten ears from the old bag out back.  I put on in my ear holder on the trunk of my oak tree, one sitting on top of that, and put the third ear in my empty birdbath.  An hour later, I looked back out the window, and this brownish grey squirrel was going to town on it.
And I fetched my camera and went to town snapping pictures.  Here’s a handful of them for you to enjoy, and you can click on any image to view it at higher resolution…

Our friend strikes the classic squirrel pose while his buddy scampers about behind him….

This picture provides a good look at his colorful tail…

This is my best side

These pictures really capture the brownish tint of his fur.  I wonder if he’s part fox squirrel?

Nom nom nom nom!

He sure is one hungry little dude…

Yet despite all he’s eaten, he’s still able to balance himself on the edge of the cheap, plastic birdfeeder.  Acrobatic indeed….

I can eat all I want and still maintain my gorgeous figure!

I want more, more, MORE!!!

I might even take the cob with me!

The corn crumbs are the best part…

Before I could snap the next picture, he leaped out of the bowl and onto the tree!

And he’s STILL not full!

His poo’s gonna look awful lumpy tomorrow….

Here’s to there being many more squirrel pictures over my next 100 blog posts…. both real and of the cartoonish type!

  4. this is so cool, you’re telling the life of a wee squirrel in what looks like an online flip book :) cool :D

  5. When I was a little girl (back in the oldy moldy analogue days) We had this record album of scary stories. One of them was about a bunch of giant squirrels who dragged the narrator out of a tree and down into bowels of their squirrelly nest. One should never trust anything this cute.

  6. Congrats on your 100th blog! I really enjoy your site–all about squirrels! Thanks for stopping by my place from time to time and checking on my squirrels, too! (I’m on a 3-week break from my courses and so I now have the opportunity to catch up with blogging friends… :-) ) Have a wonderful day!

Congrats on your 100th post! Squirrels really are amazing little creatures. My backyard is crawling with them and I could just sit and watch them all day.

  9. How adorable! We don’t have them here in Australia but have seen them on American TV. I was always a fan of chip n dale. I am almost certain they were squirrels.
