It’s time for another earworming edition of Mecca Muzak Monday, where The Nest features a lesser known track that I first became aware of from one of the muzak CD’s that play in Meccas across the
nation. This week’s selection promises to be almost as cool as melodious death metal!
Yep, that’s The Fray pictured up there. I wasn’t the least bit surprised to find out they got their start praising the Lord’s eardrums, because like most Christian-themed musicians, they suck heavenly ass. The only song of theirs I was familiar with was “How To Save A Life,” a dreadful piece of Nickelback-era light rock schlock. While doing my research on the band, I found out they also did “You Found Me”…. which didn’t exactly extract them from my crappy music doghouse.
But even the bands who seem to churn out nothing but aural sewage can sometimes get it right. Fuck, on occasion, they can even create something so epically awesome that it justifies their entire unfulfilling existence… and thus after hearing this little three minute gem that rocks out the seventh hour of the current Mecca CD, I hereby take back every unkind adjective I ever used to describe The Fray…
Ladies and gentlemen, The Fray’s 2013 hit “Love Don’t Die”…
I just love the whole sound of this song! It reminds me of “Sold Me Down The River,” and how it salvaged The Alarm in the same way in my estimation after a decade full of post-New Wave garbage.
Plus, it never hurts to be able to incorporate bells into a rock song…
So big props to The Fray for having the best song on the entire fifth version of the Mecca Muzak CD! And now that you’ve learned how to rock, don’t go back to the crap parade… or I’ll be throwing the next bottle at you!

Just to be clear, my like is for Don Music, not The Frayed.
There is nothing wrong with that. I’d rather listen to Don Music than most of The Fray’s dreck… heck I’d rather listen to The Honkers’ greatest hits…
I like his voice and the song is great too! Thanks! It’s added to my playlist.
Woohoo!
They do look kinda bad ass and this song is pretty okay. I do love Don Music though. I have to say though that although they churned out a lot of aural sewage Journey never got it right EVER.
I will agree to the extent that there is not any one Journey song that I would ever describe as “epic” or “awesome”. Most of their stuff is just overplayed, or mediocre, or both. I do enjoy some “Squirrel Can’t Help It”, though…. ;)
Well, that goes without saying for you.
Hey! Journey kicks major ass, bff! Don’t be hatin’!
Sorry, I think I stopped believin’…. ;)
Lol
Oh dear piggy heavens – you had to post the bell guys. Rolls piggy eyes – mommy loves them for some reason. I don’t get it. Really I don’t. XOXO – Bacon
I’d have never known about those guys had you not introduced them to me! They are a bit creepy, but a subtle reminder that the holiday season is almost upon us!
This is true. I don’t get the fascination that mom has with them. Daddy doesn’t jingle. Snorts – XOXO – Bacon
