While most of the gang gets along well with ES, or at least tolerates him, there is one character who absolutely loathes the poor squirrel.  That would be ES’s Rocky Mountain crush Sprotsie Baby.  Sprotsie is a mountain lion who has no idea how she came to get mixed up with, as she often refers to ES, a mangy rodent.  To keep ES away from her, she continually warns him about some statewide restraining order on mangy rodents, and if he ever does cross over into Colorado, she will stomp him flat or even worse, threaten him with nuclear weaponry.  My Atomic ES graphic was inspired by Sprotsie’s futile threats to reduce him to atoms…

While I have tweaked the appearance of my characters over the several years I have drawn them, few have changed as dramatically as Sprotsie Baby has…

Shhhh! Don't disturb them!

Here she is in an avatar I drew in April 2010.  This was her classic look… brown hair, yellow fur, always had on a John Elway Denver Broncos jersey and light blue pants.  Even at this point in time, Sprots was a rare exception to the rule in that I preferred the look of my characters in the raw.  I only kept the Elway jersey to distinguish her from a similar looking character, not to mention identify her personality as a Broncos fan.  I finally ditched the jersey a few months later, changed the fur to more of a yellowish-orange, went with all orange hair for the Broncos shoutout, and this became her current form.

The story of ES’s pursuit of Sprotsie Baby’s heart is a long and tragicomic tale that is best saved for its own post.  But while ES loves all the ladies, leave no doubt that it’s Sprotsie who is his most active target in his pursuit of scritches.  Who else but a hopeless romantic would continually be obsessed with someone who would like nothing better than to eradicate him, or at least get him sent to Hawaii?  We should all be as lucky as Sprotsie is to have someone who loves us more than anything else in the world, even duct tape…
