If I ever find my cats are annoying me and I need to be left alone, there is one foolproof way to get them to both immediately bolt for the opposite end of the house. Ody and Biskit are both terrified of the crinkling of plastic bags. I’m not sure if this phobia is common in cats since it didn’t seem to bother Spilly so much, but mine sure seem to have the plastic willies.
However, being both a bad cat parent and a hoarder, I have a few of these plastic boogeymen lying around the house where curious cats can sometimes find them, and occasionally incidents like what happened last night will occur…
I was just getting ready to sit down in the living room when Ody came flying through the living room like all hell had broken loose. Biskit immediately bolted for the bedroom like someone had put a bounty out on black cats. Ody settled in the space between my comfy chair and the wall and I noticed he had apparently gotten himself hung up in one of my dastardly Walmart bag traps. The poor kitty was in such terror, there was only one thing I could do…..
Whenever my cats do something stupid, they’re getting photographed and humiliated on the internets! Oh, don’t look so ticked off Ody… everyone loves cute cat pictures and with any luck, you may become as famous as your brother Spilly did and get posted on forums across the world!
Whoa….. okay, little buddy! Just hold still a minute. Ody does make for some of the best glowing eyes pictures, but I better get him out of his makeshift outfit before he decides to claw my eyeballs out.
And in the interest of somewhat equal time, poor Biskit doesn’t get as much exposure here since he tends to stay away from the camera, but here’s a shot of him pulling off the same trick not long after I brought him home last year….
