Since Saturdays are my recharging days where I pretty much sleep the entire day away, I thought that since I’ve been taking a lot of rodentine pictures lately that I would post a quick “Squirrel of the Day” during the brief time between getting off work and going to bed on Saturdays. I had a decent one to post too that I took on my morning walk, but he’ll have to wait until next week…
I had just come home from lunch, and happen to glance out my bedroom window just in time to see a squirrel jump into my rain-filled birdbath. Yeah, I already did a series on that subject, but I figured what the hell, and went to grab the camera. I lifted up the screen, taking care not to make enough noise to scare him away, and began shooting again. That was when my eyes caught this guy, who was busy collecting acorns right under my window!!!!
The crappy zoom on my camera didn’t matter now, as this was easily the closest my sciurine subject has ever been to me while willingly letting me take his picture.
My luck wasn’t all good, as I missed a couple of really good poses he gave me where he actually looked straight up at me, but I did get this cool looking picture:
Squirrels rarely stay in one place for very long, and this fearless critter was no exception, but I did get one last full body shot before he went on his merry little way….
There’s your Saturday dose of backyard wildlife. Tune in tomorrow, when we ask the immortal question…. wouldn’t it be neat if squirrels rode on unicorns?
