Squirrel Of The South

Howdy, y'all!

Howdy, y’all!

Last week I posted that I was encouraging my readers to send in their squirrel pictures for possible inclusion in one of my weekly Saturday Squirrel posts.  Valerie from the sqturday squirrel logoAtlantamomofthree blog was the first to drop a shot of one of her furry little friends in my inbox, so I decided to honor her and her squirrelly companion you see above as this week’s Saturday Squirrel!  Valerie says this is one of a handful of the squirrels who frolic about in her yard as well as the woods near her home.  He certainly seems quite happy in that picture… I dare say that squirrel is sporting a smile!  Is he happy because he found something good to eat?  Maybe one of Georgia’s famous pecans?  Or is he just happy because he knew he was about to become world famous and enjoy a distinction so few squirrels around the world ever get to add to their resumé?

Of course, does a squirrel even need a reason to be happy?  Of course not!  You will never see a squirrel on Prozac!

Drunk, maybe…

Thank you very much Valerie for submitting your squirrel for me to show off in my sciurine spotlight!  If you’d like to see a picture of one of your furry little buddies appear in a future Saturday Squirrel post, just get a good snapshot of him on film and send it to the email address listed in my Contact Me page below my blog header!  While I don’t plan on using reader submissions every week, I would like to do them on occasion…

Have a great, and hopefully free from stormy weather weekend!

Thanks!! Hmm, no pecans in our yard 😉 but we do have plenty of acorns from our huge oak tree!

Dude, I thought I was the only person on earth who still used the word snapshot! Or the much hipper “snap”. And what is this film of which you speak?

I was at my Mom’s house Wednesday and got all excited when she said she thought she saw a squirrel on her fence post. False alarm….she must have been stoned. Is it sad that there aren’t any squirrels in my area is now on my list of reasons why I wish I still lived in the old ‘hood?

I’m taking credit for you coming up with the idea to feature guest spots, so I got that goin’ for me….

    • You mean people don’t use “snapshot” anymore!?!? What is this world coming to!?!?

I’ll let you take the credit, although I’m not sure if you were the first to express their desire to provide a SS picture or my Mom was, I was thinking of your comment you made a few months ago when I made the announcement…

I almost had an awesome shot for you today of a huge squirrel doing the upright prairie dog stance. Sadly our squirrels do not take direction well and he wouldn’t stay still at all. So, I’ve got about 20 shots of a blurred grey blob streaking (not that kind, he kept his fur on) across green grass.
