Duck Soup

No, I'm not going to sell you any insurance... that's the gecko's job.

No, I’m not going to sell you any insurance… that’s the gecko’s job.

Today’s the last totally free day I’m going to get before I go back to work Friday night, so before it gets to be comic time this evening, I’ve been using the afternoon to go through the backlog of picture files I have on my computer going as far back as last Fall to find the good shots, crop them, save them, and delete everything else to free up a little storage space on this archaic contraption.  Thus far, I’ve only made it back as far as April, but let’s say I already have a wealth of great squirrel pictures tucked away in my archive… and with the occasional reader submission, I could not snap another picture for a year and still throw up something fresh every Saturday!

I also found the picture above, which is funny because of a comment I made on one of Merby’s posts over a month ago.  I don’t even remember what the post was about, or the exact topic of the conversation, but she mentioned they had ducks in her locale due to being near Lake Erie, and I said I had never seen a duck in my neighborhood before.  So what do I go out back and find just a couple days after making that remark…. the pretty little mallard you see above.  He and one of his friends who stayed hidden in the grass were lounging about near my ditch, paying absolutely no attention to the fact that I was trying to cut my grass.

No, I’m not going to start a Wednesday Waterfowl feature, but I had to show off my duck…. quack!

I’m so glad I don’t work. Waterfowl Wednesday sounds perfect. 😉

I love the idea of Waterfowl Wednesday. I could probably supply you with a steady stream of goose pictures, since they are all over the place around here. Then again, I suppose one goose looks pretty much like another: ha, ha!

Good luck with heading back to work! 😀

  3. I saw an American duck and I didn’t even need to get a passport! Very handsome fella!
I live near Merri Creek and we have lots of lovely water wildlife.
